India: Female leopard with cubs terrorise villagers in Kanpur's Katri areas

Kanpur: A female leopard has extended its terror in a range of ten Kms in Kanpur rural areas for the past five days.

Owing to the fear villagers of numerous villages are reported to have been avoiding coming to their fields. They are so terrified that their movement closes after evening.

The forest department team is trying to find it by bursting firecrackers and playing canisters in the forests.Searches are also being made in bushes and mud tunnels.

At present, the team of forest department has not got success in this. Divisional Forest Officer Arvind Yadav is monitoring night vision cameras to catch the leopard.

The female leopard is reportedly walking with her cubs in the Ganga Katri region. So far, the female leopard has hunted a calf and a boar.

The forest department team has put up cages in search of the lady leopard. No movement of the leopard was recorded in the night vision camera.

Due to the fear of leopards, people in the 4 villages of Katri Bhagwandin Purwa, Bhopalpurwa, Baniyapurwa, Dand Durgapur are extremely scared.

A team of 9 people from the forest department is searching for a leopard in a range of 10 km. District Forest Officer Arvind Yadav said, that the large area of ​​​​Katri is a natural habitat for the leopard. 

It is guessed that the female leopard is hiding in a cool place on the banks of the Ganges. It moves out with the cubs only during the night. Her claw marks have also been found.

A total of 4 Night Vision cameras and 2 cages have been installed. There was no movement of leopard in them.

The villagers have been instructed to take care of themselves and the cattle along with staying on vigil.
