Jammu, Dec 25 (PTI) After spending 29 years in a Pakistani jail, Kathua resident Kuldeep Singh returned to a rousing welcome at his hometown here on Friday night, following which he asked the youth to never pull back from making any sacrifice for the country.

Singh (53), along with Mohammad Gufran from Aurangabad, were released by Pakistan on Monday and they reached Red Cross Bhavan at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Punjab after their repatriation.

Srinagar, Dec 17 (PTI) Former chief ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah Friday lashed out at the Jammu and Kashmir administration for changes in the land use laws, claiming the new policy would adversely impact the people of the Union Territory.

Mehbooba Mufti, the PDP president, alleged the new laws enabling conversion of agricultural land to nonagricultural purposes reveals designs to engineer demographic change in Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu, 16 December 2021: Two Kashmiris were killed on Thursday by Indian security forces in Kulgam district of the Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian officials said.

Jammu, Dec 13 (PTI) A Pakistani woman intruder was shot dead by the BSF along the international border here, an official said on Monday.

Deputy Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF) S P S Sandhu said alert troops neutralized the intruder in R S Pura sector on Sunday night.

"The BSF troops noticed suspicious movement and warned the intruder many times not to cross the IB but the intruder kept running towards border fencing aggressively," Sandhu, who is the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of BSF, Jammu, said.

Srinagar, Dec 13 (PTI) An army soldier allegedly died by suicide in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said.

Havildar S S Arjun allegedly shot himself with his service rifle in the early hours at Drangyari in Chowkibal area, they said.

The jawan succumbed to injuries later, they said.

The reason for the soldier taking such an extreme step was not immediately known.

Srinagar, 12 December 2021: Another Kashmiri was killed on Sunday by Indian security forces in Pulwama district of the Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian officials said.

Banihal/Jammu, Dec 12 (PTI) A 29-year-old Army Major allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle at a camp in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Sunday.

Major Parvinder Singh, a resident of Delhi, was at his residential quarter inside the camp at Mahubal in Khari area of Banihal when he fatally shot himself with an AK assault rifle Saturday night, the officials said.

They said the officer had joined the camp as company commander recently.

New Delhi, Dec 2 (PTI) India on Thursday hit out at the UN human rights body for its "baseless" allegations against it over the arrest of an activist in Jammu and Kashmir, and asserted that the comments "betray" a complete lack of understanding of the security challenges in the region in view of cross-border terrorism.

Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), said authorities in India act against violations of law and not against legitimate exercise of rights.
