India: J-K admin targeting Gujjar and Bakarwal tribals: Omar

Srinagar, Jan 14 (PTI) National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah on Friday accused the Jammu and Kashmir administration of targeting the Gujjar and Bakarwal tribals at the behest of its political masters.

The former chief minister's remarks came after the houses belonging to the community were demolished by the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) as part of its anti-encroachment drive recently.

India, China hold 14th military talks to resolve Ladakh standoff

New Delhi, Jan 12 (PTI) After a gap of over three months, India and China on Wednesday are holding another round of high-level military talks to resolve the 20-month-long military standoff in the remaining friction points in eastern Ladakh, sources in the security establishment said.

The 14th round of Corps Commander-level talks are taking place at the Chushul-Moldo border point on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, they said.

Srinagar/New Delhi, Jan 6 (PTI) Four former chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, including Farooq Abdullah and Ghulam Nabi Azad, are likely to lose their Special Security Group (SSG) protection as the union territory's administration has decided to wind up the elite unit established in 2000, officials said on Thursday.

India: 3 Kashmiris killed by Indian Sec Forces in Pulwama district of Indian Administered Kashmir

Jammu, 05 January 2022: Three Kashmiris were killed on Wednesday by Indian security forces in Pulwama district of the Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian officials said.

Indian security forces alleged that one of the insurgent was from the Pakistan side of Kashmir.

Kashmir: NC, PDP workers protest after detention of their leaders

Srinagar, Jan 1 (PTI) Scores of activists of the National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took out separate protest marches here on Saturday after authorities allegedly detained top leaders of the parties ahead of a proposed sit-in against the draft proposals of the Delimitation Commission.

The protest call was given by the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) an amalgam of various mainstream political parties in Jammu and Kashmir including the NC, the PDP, CPI(M), Peoples Movement and Awami National Conference.

Kashmir: NC dismayed' over SIT "clean chit" for Hyderpora fake encounter

Srinagar, Dec 29 (PTI) The National Conference Wednesday expressed dismay over the "clean chit" given by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Jammu and Kashmir Police to security forces in the Hyderpora encounter, saying the report fails to address the legitimate concerns of the aggrieved families and the general public.

Demanding an independent investigation into the matter, NC spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said the "self-trial" by police in the form of SIT "stands rejected" by the affected families.

India: 3 Kashmiris killed by Indian Sec Forces in Indian Administered Kashmir

Srinagar, 26 December 2021: A Kashmiri was killed on Sunday by Indian security forces in Anantnag district of the Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian officials said.

Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar identified the slain insurgent as Faheem Bhat, resident of Kadipora Anantnag.
