India: Rape accused arrested in J&K's Reasi

Jammu, May 21 (PTI) A man was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, a senior police officer said.

Ganesh Singh, a resident of Chourakote-Bhomag, was arrested by the special team after a series of raids, Senior superintendent of police, Reasi, Amit Gupta said.

Gupta had constituted the team following a written complaint by a man on May 5, stating that her 17-year-old daughter was allegedly raped by someone.

India: Girl raped, impregnated by man in J-K's Reasi

Jammu, May 16 (PTI) A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and impregnated by a man in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, officials said on Monday.

A person of Pouni tehsil lodged a complaint with the police on Saturday alleging that a man repeatedly raped her daughter who is two months pregnant, they said.

Srinagar, May 14 (PTI) It is imperative for a healthy democracy that people feel their rights and dignity are recognised and protected, Chief Justice of India N V Ramana said on Saturday, stressing that denial of justice would ultimately lead to anarchy.

Addressing a function in Srinagar, the CJI urged lawyers and judges to create a congenial environment for litigants who are often "under a lot of psychological stress".

India: J-K cops to be armed with corner shot weapon system

Udhampur, May 9 (PTI) The highly sophisticated 'Zen ShootEdge' corner shot pistol weapon system will be inducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police for close combat and 100 of these will be delivered, according to company officials.

It facilitates shooting around corners and over the top of walls, without exposing the person using the pistol, they said.

India: Claims of normalcy in J-K self serving lies: Mehbooba

Srinagar, May 2 (PTI) PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said the Jammu and Kashmir administration's decision to disallow Eid prayers at the Jamia Masjid here proves that the Centre's claims about normalcy in the union territory are "self serving lies and contradictions".

The administration had put conditions on holding Eid prayers at the Jamia Masjid including that prayers be held at 7 am and the management committee of the mosque give an undertaking that no untoward incident will take place during or after prayers.

India: 2 Kashmiris killed by Indian Sec Forces in Pulwama district of Indian Administered Kashmir

Pulwama, 28 April 2022: Two Kashmiris were killed by Indian security forces in Pulwama district of the Indian Administered Kashmir on Thursday, Indian officials said.

Slained Kasmiris were identified as Aijaz Hafiz and Shahid Ayub.
