Kashmir: Protests force India army to replace Soleimani poster after burning one

17 Feb 2022; MEMO: Indian military officers in central occupied Kashmir have been forced to apologise after allegedly burning a portrait of slain Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, triggering massive protests. Officers were later seen putting up a replacement picture, featuring Qassem Soleimani alongside Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

India: Gupkar Alliance to meet in Srinagar on Feb 26

Srinagar, Feb 17 (PTI) The People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) will meet here on February 26 to discuss the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir, including the draft proposal of the Delimitation Commission.

Last week, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti had said the PAGD would meet on February 23.

"PAGD meeting is scheduled to be held at Srinagar on 26th February, 2022 to discuss the present prevailing situation in J&K," spokesperson of the five-party alliance M Y Tarigami said here on Thursday.

India: Properties of 610 Kashmiri Pandits restored in JK: Govt

New Delhi, Feb 9 (PTI) As many as 610 Kashmiri Pandits were given back their properties left behind in Jammu and Kashmir following eruption of militancy there in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai also said in the Rajya Sabha that 3,000 state government jobs were created for Kashmiri migrants under the Prime Minister's Development Package-2015 (PMDP-2015) with an outlay of Rs 1,080 crore.

Indian Army Air service airlift 16 MT of vegetables to Ladakh

Leh, Feb 8 (PTI) Army has flown 16 metric tonnes of vegetables to Ladakh from Chandigarh on Tuesday to ensure adequate supply during extremely cold climatic conditions, officials said.

The first winter fresh vegetable consignment supply to the public through the cooperative societies was flagged-off today by Secretary, Cooperative, Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar from the cooperative cold storage at Agling.

Kumar said that a total of 16 metric tonnes load has been received today through the Army Air Service (AAS) for both Leh and Kargil districts.

India: Earthquake of 5.7 magnitude hits J-K

Srinagar, Feb 5 (PTI) An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 on the Richter scale hit Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, but there were no reports of any loss of life or damage to property, officials said.

The epicentre of the quake, which occurred at 9.45 am, was at the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border. Strong tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir, they said.

The officials said the quake hit at latitude 36.34 degrees north and longitude 71.05 degrees east at a depth of 181 km.

India: Kashmiri killed by Indian Sec Forces in Shopian district of Indian Administered Kashmir

Srinagar, 02 February 2022: Another Kashmiri was killed on Wednesday by Indian security forces in Nadigam village area of Shopian district of the Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian officials said.

The slained  Kashmiri has been identified as Umar Ishfaq Malik.

Indian: 5 Kashmiris killed by Indian Sec Forces in Pulwama and Budgam district of Indian Administered Kashmir

Jammu, 30 January 2022: Five Kashmiris were killed on Wednesday by Indian security forces in Pulwama and Budgam district of the Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian officials said.

Indian security forces alleged that one of the insurgent was JeM commander Zahid Wani.

Kashmir: Shikara rally held at Dal Lake in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 23 (PTI) The Tourism Department on Sunday held a colourful Shikara rally at the famous Dal Lake here to woo tourists to the Kashmir valley, an official spokesperson said.

The rally was part of a series of events organised by the department to celebrate the 75th year of Independence under the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'.
