Israel to charge Islamic Jihad's Saadi with terrorism

22 August 2022; MEMO: The Israeli Security Agency, Shin Bet, will formally charge the leader of the Islamic Jihad movement in the occupied West Bank, Bassam Al-Saadi, the Israeli army said.

According to the army, the investigation into Al-Saadi has been completed and the Prosecutor has decided to charge him with membership in a "terror group", in reference to the Islamic Jihad movement, conducting operations for the group, incitement and "supporting terrorism".

Egypt: We Record another extrajudicial killing in Sinai

22 August 2022; MEMO: We Record has released a new video that appears to show a man being extrajudicially executed in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula.

In the video, the man's hands are handcuffed behind his back and he begs for his life before he is shot at close range and his body rolls over the desert terrain.

We Record told MEMO they think the extrajudicial killing was carried out this month and that another video from July shows the same man surrendering to local forces.

Activists demand justice after police assault Palestinian-American teen

22 August 2022; MEMO: Calls for justice are mounting after a Palestinian-American teenager was brutally beaten by US Police at a traffic stop last month near Chicago.

On 28 July, a video filmed by a bystander went viral showing two police officers in Oak Lawn, Illinois, on top of the teen, 17-year-old Hadi Abuatelah, beating him before a third officer is seen briefly placing his knee on the child's head or neck. Hadi is then handcuffed by the officers.

Palestine: PLO opens its offices to rights groups closed by Israel

22 August 2022; MEMO: The Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) yesterday announced that it had opened its offices as temporary headquarters for the seven rights groups closed by Israel, the PLO's Human Rights Department said.

Following an emergency meeting held in Ramallah, the PLO's Human Rights Department said that its decision comes in response to the Israeli decision to close the Palestinian rights groups.

India: Kasmiri leader Mehbooba Mufti placed under house arrest, again

Srinagar, Aug 21 (PTI) PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday claimed she had been put under house arrest to stop her from visiting the family of Kashmiri Pandit Sunil Kumar Bhat who was shot dead by terrorists in Shopian recently.

Taking to Twitter, Mufti posted pictures of the locked gates of her residence in Gupkar area here and a CRPF vehicle parked outside.

Arab League rejects German 'campaign of bullying' against PA president

20 August 2022; MEMO: The Arab League on Friday rejected the German "campaign of bullying" against Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas following his "50 Holocausts" remarks.

A statement issued by the Arab League asserted that it: "Expresses its rejection and surprise at what appeared to be a German campaign of bullying against Palestine and President Mahmoud Abbas."
