Russia holds Israel responsible for latest offensive against Gaza

09 August 2022; MEMO: Russia blames Israel for the latest three-day military offensive against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the Foreign Ministry in Moscow has announced.

"The new escalation was caused by the Israeli army firing into the Gaza Strip on 5 August," said ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova. She pointed out that the Palestinian factions responded to this escalation by firing rockets indiscriminately towards Israeli territory.

Israel's demolition of our house will never break our will, Palestinian family says

09 August 2022; MEMO: Israel will never break our will, Al-Watan Voice reported a Palestinian family saying after occupation forces demolished their home.

Israeli occupation demolished the houses of Palestinian prisoners Sobhi Sbeehat and Asaad Al-Refae in in the city of Jenin yesterday.

Sbeehat's grandfather said: "A large number of Israeli occupation forces raided Rommana neighbourhood, broke into our house and forcefully evacuated us."

Israel took months to prepare for latest offensive on Gaza, analysts say

09 August 2022; MEMO: Israel took several months to prepare for the latest offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip, Israeli military analysts have said, noting it came as part of plan dubbed "Wave Breaker" launched by Israeli forces in March.

Several Israeli reports stated that the ceasefire would be temporary, adding that there will definitely be another round of strikes on Gaza.

African Union: Targeting of civilians stark violation of international law

08 August 2022; MEMO: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, yesterday criticised the Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip, saying that targeting civilians is a "stark violation of international law."

"The targeting of civilians and the continued illegal occupation by Israeli security forces of the occupied territories, are in stark violation of international law, and complicate the search for a just and lasting solution," Faki Mahamat said in a statement.

Palestine: Gaza healthcare system on verge of collapse

08 August 2022; MEMO: The healthcare system in the besieged Gaza Strip is on the verge of collapse, Palestinian officials warned on Sunday. They blame the ongoing 15-year Israeli siege of the occupied Palestinian territory and the large of number of casualties during Israel's latest military offensive.

Moreover, for the fifth consecutive day, Israel has tightened the closure of the Gaza crossings through which food and other basic commodities, including fuel for the sole electricity plant, enter the coastal enclave.
