India: Shed arrogance, give justice to farmers: Rahul to govt

New Delhi, Dec 1 (PTI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday asked the government to wake up and shed "arrogance" to provide protesting farmers their rights.

Farmers, mostly from Punjab and Haryana, are holding protests at the Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur borders of the national capital against the Centre's new agri-marketing laws.

Taking to Twitter, Gandhi said everyone was indebted to the farmers for their hard work and this debt would be repaid only by giving them justice.

Debris Of Indian Navy’s Jet Located, Pilot Still Missing

NEW DELHI, Nov 30 (NNN-PTI) – Debris of the MiG-29k trainer aircraft, that crashed in the Arabian Sea on Thursday, has been located, an Indian Navy (IN) official said yesterday.

The jet had crashed into the sea, off the southern state of Goa. While one pilot was rescued, the other is still missing.

“Some debris of the aircraft, including landing gear, turbo charger, fuel tank engine and wing engine have been located,” said a statement.

Indian Govt calls all-party meet to discuss COVID-19 situation

New Delhi, Nov 30 (PTI) The government has called an all-party meeting to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic situation on December 4 that will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sources said on Monday.

Floor leaders of all parties from both houses of parliament have been called for the meeting, which will be held virtually on Friday at 10.30 am, sources told PTI.

The Parliamentary Affairs Ministry is coordinating the meeting and has reached out to floor leaders of all parties, they said.

India: AR Rahman becomes BAFTA Breakthrough ambassador

Mumbai, Nov 30 (PTI) Academy Award-winning music composer AR Rahman on Monday was announced as the ambassador for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' (BAFTA) 'Breakthrough Initiative'.

The initiative, supported by Netflix, aims to identify, celebrate, and support up to five talents working in film, games, or TV in India.

Rahman said he is thrilled to work with BAFTA to discover talent that the country has to offer.

India: Five of top 10 most valued firms lose together Rs 91,699 cr m-cap

New Delhi, Nov 29 (PTI) The combined market valuation of five of top-10 most valued firms declined by Rs 91,699 crore last week, with heavyweight Reliance Industries emerging as the worst hit.

While Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), Infosys, HDFC, ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel suffered losses in their market valuation, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HDFC Bank, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bajaj Finance were the gainers.

Indian Reserve Bank likely to maintain interest rates on heightened inflation concerns

New Delhi, Nov 29 (PTI) The Reserve Bank is likely to keep the benchmark interest rates unchanged in its next monetary policy review in view of heightened retail inflation which has persistently remained above its comfort level, feel experts.

However, with the economic growth continuing to remain in the negative territory for the second consecutive quarter ending September, the central bank is likely to continue with the accommodative monetary stance keeping the hope alive for a rate cut as and when needed.

India: Farmers' protest enters fifth day, traffic disrupted in city

New Delhi, Nov 30 (PTI) The ongoing protests by thousands of farmers against the Centre's new farm laws entered the fifth day on Monday, with the protestors threatening to block all five entry points to the national capital.

Rejecting the Centre's offer to hold talks once they move to the Burari ground, the farmers said they will not accept any conditional dialogue and have called a meeting to discuss their next course of action later in the day.

Farmers, who had reached Nirankarai Samagam Ground in Burari on Saturday, continued their protest there.

India: 2 IEDs planted by Naxal terrorists unearthed in Dantewada

Raipur, Nov 29 (PTI) A day after a Naxal IED blast killed a CoBRA officer and injured nine commandos in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, security forces uncovered two such devices planted by ultras in Dantewada on Sunday, an official said.

The IEDs, each weighing 5 kilograms, were unearthed from beneath a road between Dhanikarka and Surnaar villages under Kuakonda police station limits, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava told PTI.

Indian Navy finds some debris of crashed MiG-29K in Arabian sea

Mumbai/Panaji, Nov 29 (PTI) The Indian Navy has recovered some debris of the MiG-29K aircraft that went missing three days back in the Arabian Sea off the Goa coast, a spokesperson said on Sunday, adding the search continued with ships and aircraft for missing pilot Cdr Nishant Singh.

In addition to nine warships and 14 aircraft engaged in the search efforts, Indian Navy's Fast Interceptor Craft are also deployed to search waters along the coast, a defence release said.

India: Amit Shah vows to end "Nizam culture" in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Nov 29 (PTI): Union Home Minister and top BJP leader Amit Shah on Sundayassured that the party would make Hyderabad a global IT hub, a modern city and free from "Nizam culture"if voted to power in the December 1 civic polls.

He also exuded confidence that Hyderabad would have a BJP Mayor after the GHMC polls and that the saffron party would form the government in Telangana after the next Assembly elections.
