India condemns missile attack on Saudi oil facility

New Delhi, Dec 1 (PTI) India on Tuesday strongly condemned the missile attack targeting a facility of Aramco oil company in Saudi Arabia's Red Sea city of Jeddah last week.

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said India stands in solidarity with the government and the people of Saudi Arabia against such attacks.

India: Cyclone 'Burevi' to hit TN on Dec 4

New Delhi, Dec 1 (PTI) Cyclone Burevi is very likely to hit Tamil Nadu on December 4, the Cyclone Warning Division of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.

This is the second cyclone that is predicted to hit the state in a week. Last week, a very severe cyclonic storm, Nivar, had battered the southern state.

Burevi is unlikely to be as intense as Nivar, IMD director general Mrutunjay Mohapatra said.

It is expected to first hit Sri Lanka on December 2 and then Tamil Nadu on December 4.

India: Ramdev supports Centre's new farm laws

Chandigarh, Dec 1 (PTI) Yoga guru Ramdev on Tuesday came out in support of the Centre's new farm laws being stiffly opposed by the farmers, but said the government should have initiated wider consultations with ryots before framing the legislations.

Ramdev called on Haryana's Home and Health Minister Anil Vij at his office here on Tuesday.

India: Farmers sit-in at Noida-Delhi border, key route to Delhi closed for vehicles

Noida (UP), Dec 2 (PTI) Farmers protesting against the new farm laws continued their sit-in at the Noida-Delhi border for the second day on Wednesday, leading to closure of a key route that connects Uttar Pradesh with the national capital.

The Noida Traffic Police has advised commuters travelling to Delhi to avoid using the Chilla route and instead take the DND or Kalindi Kunj route.

India: Man kills wife for dowry in UP's Bareilly

Bareilly (UP), Dec 1 (PTI) The body of a 23-year-old woman has been found in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly district, with her family members alleging that she was killed by her husband, police said on Tuesday.

Nisha, who had gone to attend a wedding function with her husband, was found dead in a lane in Gangapur on Monday night, they said.

According to police, her mother alleged that the husband and in-laws of Nisha had been harassing her over dowry. She accused Nisha's husband, Lakhan, of killing her, they said.

India: President likely to attend centenary celebrations of AMU

Aligarh UP), Dec 1 (PTI) President Ram Nath Kovind is likely to attend the online centenary celebrations of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) via video conferencing later this month, Vice Chancellor Tariq Mansoor said.

The date of the event will be finalised soon, he said.

In an open letter to the AMU community on completion of 100 years of the university, Mansoor noted that on December 1, 1920 the gazette notification for establishing this institution was released by the government.

India: Cops suspended in UP for links with cattle smugglers

Ballia (UP), Dec 1 (PTI) Three policemen have been suspended here for their alleged links with cattle smugglers, a senior official said Tuesday.

They have been identified as Head Constable Ramashray Yadav, and constables Dina Nath Yadav and Ranjit Yadav, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sanjay Yadav said.

A probe was being carried out by the ASP.

India: Rape victim kidnapped from near home in UP

Fatehpur (UP), Dec 1 (PTI) A rape victim was allegedly kidnapped from a village here when she had gone to fields for some work, police said Tuesday.

The 18-year-old was also kidnapped in 2019 and raped, following which three people were arrested, Station House Officer Ravindra Shrivastava said.

The accused, Kuldeep Lodhi, Jai Singh and his wife Meena, were arrested in the case and all of them are out on bail, he said.

India: Farmers' outfit stages protest in Nagpur

Nagpur, Dec 1 (PTI) Workers of the Swabhmani Shetkari Sanghatana on Tuesday staged demonstrations in Maharashtra's Nagpur city in support of the farmers' agitation in Delhi against the Centre's new farm laws.

Thousands of farmers have been protesting at various border points of Delhi for the last six days to protest against the new farm laws, which they fear will dismantle the minimum support price system and corporatise farming.

India: Kerala CM urges Centre to listen to protesting farmers

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 1 (PTI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday urged the central governmentto "listen" to the farmers, who are on an agitation at Delhi border points against the new agriculture laws and resolve the issue in an amicable manner.

In a tweet, Vijayan described the farmers as the "lifeblood" of the country and said it it time to stand with them.

"It is time to stand with our farmers. We urge the Government of India to listen to the protesting farmers and resolve the issue in an amicable manner.
