India: GSV Medical College Kanpur: 8 doctors shifted, 25 doctors felt like homecoming

Kanpur: There were recommended several transfers at Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College here. 

As many as 25 doctors received their respective orders for their so-to-say homecoming on Thursday. They were said to have been transferred during the Covid wave. It was a sort of surprise for them. 

A total of 8 doctors including two HoDs and one senior doctor of the medicine department have been transferred from the medical college here.

India: Mohammad Fahad is national president of SP's youth wing

Lucknow, Jul 14 (PTI) The Samajwadi Party on Wednesday appointed former Aligarh Muslim University student union leader Mohammad Fahad as the national president of the party's youth wing.

Fahad, a resident of Kasganj, was the secretary of AMU Students' Union in 2017-18, he said.

"On directions of party president Akhilesh Yadav, Mohammad Fahad of Kasganj has been appointed national president of the SP Yuvjan Sabha," said Naresh Uttam, the party's state president.

India: Jaishankar meets Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Dushanbe

New Delhi, Jul 14 (PTI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi held a one-hour meeting on Wednesday in Dushanbe with a focus on resolving the outstanding issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.

After the talks, Jaishankar said he highlighted that unilateral change of status quo was not acceptable to India and that both sides agreed on convening an early meeting of the senior military commanders.

India: RBI indefinitely bars Mastercard from issuing new cards from July 22

Mumbai, Jul 14 (PTI) In a major supervisory action, the Reserve Bank on Wednesday indefinitely barred the US-based Mastercard from issuing new credit, debit and prepaid cards with effect from July 22 for its failure to comply with data storage norms.

Mastercard, a major card issuing entity in the country, is the third company to have been barred by RBI from acquiring new customers after American Express Banking Corp and Diners Club International over data storage issue.

India: Five more people test positive for Zika virus in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 15 (PTI): Amid concerns of identifying a cluster of Zika virus in the capital city, five more people, including four women, have tested positive for the infection in Kerala, taking the caseload in the state to 28.

Of the fresh cases, two were natives of Anayara here, where a cluster of the disease had been identified within a three kilometre radius, Health Minister Veena George said on Thursday.

India: Elderly woman murdered on temple premises in UP

Bulandshahr (UP), Jul 15 (PTI) A 70-year-old woman caretaker was allegedly murdered in a temple in this district, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place at the Chamunda Devi temple in Buklana village on Wednesday night, they said.

On Thursday morning, a visitor spotted the body of Bhagwati inside her room built on the temple premises, Syana Circle Officer Alka said.

The elderly woman had been living there and looking after the temple for the last 10 years, according to police.

India: Woman shot dead in UP while waiting for bus

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Jul 15 (PTI) A 26-year-old woman was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Thursday while she was waiting for a bus outside a medical college here, police said.

The incident took place outside the Muzaffarnagar Medical College, Begarajpur, where the married woman had come for a check-up from her village Shernagar, they said.

While she was waiting for a bus outside the college on the Dehradun-Delhi National Highway, two bike-borne men shot her, police said.
