Pakistan condemns tear gas shelling on peaceful Muharram procession in IIOJK

ISLAMABAD, Aug 18 (APP): Pakistan on Wednesday strongly condemned the use of tear gas shells and firing of warning shots on Muslims taking part in peaceful Muharram procession in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Dozens of Kashmiris have reportedly been detained and journalists have also been subjected to baton charge, the Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement.

Pakistan embassy at Kabul facilitating people leave Afghanistan

Pakistan PM urges int'l community to stay engaged to support Afghans economically

Islamabad, Aug 18 (PTI) Asserting that Pakistan is reaching out to all Afghan leaders for a peaceful settlement of the current crisis in the neighbouring nation, Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged the international community to stay engaged, particularly to support the people of the war-ravaged nation economically.

The Prime Minister's Office in a late night statement on Tuesday said Khan received a telephone call from German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the two leaders exchanged views on the rapidly evolving situation in Afghanistan.

Pakistan wants assurance from Taliban to not let Afghan soil used against it: President

ISLAMABAD, Aug 17 (APP): President Dr Arif Alvi has said that Pakistan would like to have similar assurance from the Taliban, as given to China and the United States, that the soil of Afghanistan would not be used against them or any other country.

“We will always like assurances, the ones which were given to China and the United States, that the Afghan territory will never be used against any other country,” the president said in an interview with TRT’s Strait Talk.

Pakistan: In current situation, great responsibility rests on Afghan leaders: PM

ISLAMABAD, Aug 17 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday said that in the current situation, great responsibility rested on the Afghan leaders to work constructively together to lead Afghanistan on the path of sustainable peace, stability and development.

He underscored the importance of all sides working to secure an inclusive political solution.

The Prime Minister expressed these views during the meeting here with a delegation of political leaders from Afghanistan.

Pakistan committed to sovereignty of Saudi Arabia: PM

ISLAMABAD, Aug 16 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday expressed Pakistan’s commitment and support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.

Talking to Chief of General Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces General Fayyadh bin Hameed Al-Rowailly, the prime minister underlined the importance Pakistan attached to Saudi Arabia in broadening mutual cooperation and strengthening the people-to-people contacts.

Pakistan committed to an inclusive political settlement in Afghanistan: NSC

Over 700 Sri Lankan students to appear in tests for study in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15 (APP): Over 700 Sri Lankan students from across Sri Lanka will appear in the written tests being held for scholarships to study in Pakistan’s universities at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

According to the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the scholarships are part of Pakistan-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme, which is aimed to further strengthen the ties between the two countries and bring people of both the nations more closer to each other.

12 killed in overnight grenade attack in southern Pakistan

KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) — The death toll from an overnight grenade attack on a truck carrying women and children in Karachi rose to 12 on Sunday.

Attackers targeted the truck on Saturday evening as it shuttled an extended family from a wedding ceremony in a western Karachi neighborhood, killing nine people and wounding nine others.
