Pakistan: PM initiates dialogue with Taliban for inclusive govt in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Sep 18 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan Saturday said that he had initiated dialogue with Taliban for an inclusive government in Afghanistan to include Tajiks, Hazaras and Uzbek ethnicities.

The prime minister, who paid a two-day visit to Tajikistan mainly to attend the SCO Summit met with the leadership of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries and including Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

UNHCR urges international community to continue engaging with Taliban

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Filippo Grandi has said here that the international community should continue engaging with the Afghan Taliban.

Addressing a press briefing Friday during his visit to Pakistan, the UN official said the UNHCR is engaging with the interim Taliban administration in Afghanistan on humanitarian matters, urging the world to do the same.

UNHCR warns of dire consequences for refugees from COVID-19 underfunding

ISLAMABAD, Sep 17 (APP): United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (NHCR), the UN Refugee Agency, called for more global attention and funding support, to counter the impact of COVID-19 on forcibly displaced people worldwide.

The COVID-19 emergency tops the list of UNHCR’s top-10 underfunded situations in 2021, said a press release.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 13 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said the government would extend utmost assistance to the foreign investors and expressed confidence that the Chinese investment in Pakistan would open up immense employment opportunities.

The prime minister expressed these views in a meeting with heads of the Chinese companies. China’s ambassador Nong Rong, federal minister Hammad Azhar, Shaukat Tareen and Asad Umer, and Commerce Adviser Abdul Razak Dawood, Special Assistant CPEC Khalid Mansoor and senior officials were also present.

Pakistan commercial passenger flight takes off from Kabul -reuters witness

ISLAMABAD, Sept 13 (Reuters) - A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) commercial passenger flight took off from Kabul airport on Monday, bound for Islamabad, a Reuters witness said.

The PIA (PIAa.PSX) flight is the first commercial passenger flight from Kabul since the foreign troop withdrawal and evacuation process was completed in Afghanistan. Last week the Qatari government flew civilian charters out of Kabul.

Heavy Downpour Causes 12 Deaths In NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Sept 12 (NNN-APP) – Twelve people were killed and two others injured, due to heavy downpour in Mansehra district of Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, today, local media reported.

Four to five houses were torn down to the ground, due to land slide caused by heavy downpour, the reports said.

There were 16 people in the houses and search for the remaining two has been underway, according to media.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Pakistan: India aided terrorist activities from Afghan soil; violated UN charter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 11 (APP): India had been using Afghan soil against Pakistan since 2001 by investing about $3 billion on infrastructure, training of Afghan forces and other projects to establish a network for its permanent foothold and to achieve its overt and covert designs.

According to experts, by sponsoring terrorism against Pakistan from Afghan territory, India had violated different Articles of the United Nations Charter including Article 2(4), Article 41(3) of the Vienna Convention, and Paras 2 and 5 of UN Security Council Resolution 1373 of 2001.
