Heavy security as Pakistan host first cricket Test since 2009 attack

11 December 2019; AFP: Tight security ringed Rawalpindi cricket stadium on Wednesday as Pakistan hosted their first Test match since a deadly attack on Sri Lanka's team ushered in a decade of sporting isolation.

Despite being targeted in the 2009 guns-and-rocket assault, Sri Lanka have returned for two Tests in Rawalpindi and Karachi which Pakistan hope will help convince other teams to visit.

Iran naval chief visits Pakistan, discusses naval collaboration

629 Pakistani girls sold as brides to China

LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) — Page after page, the names stack up: 629 girls and women from across Pakistan who were sold as brides to Chinese men and taken to China. The list, obtained by The Associated Press, was compiled by Pakistani investigators determined to break up trafficking networks exploiting the country’s poor and vulnerable.

The list gives the most concrete figure yet for the number of women caught up in the trafficking schemes since 2018.

CPFTA Phase II: Pakistani traders to get chance to export 313 new products to Chinese markets: Firdous

ISLAMABAD, Dec 2 (APP): Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Monday said that with the implementation of Phase-II of China Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA) Pakistani traders would get chance to export 313 new products to Chinese markets.

In a series of tweets here, she said that Pakistan already had concession of zero duty facility on 742 products and with implementation of CPFTA Second Phase, Pakistan would be allowed to export 1047 products to China.

World institutions must break silence over Kashmir issue: governor

LAHORE, Dec 1 (APP): Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said on Sunday that international institutions including the United Nations Organisation (UNO) would have to break the silence over Kashmir issue.
In a media statement issued here, he said that Indian army had committed the biggest terrorism by rendering 22,000 women widows and violating the sanctity of another 11,000 females in Occupied Kashmir. India must realise that it could not suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom movement through power of gun and bullet.

BJP victory in Indian elections challenge for Pakistan: Qureshi

MULTAN, Nov 30 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Saturday said the victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in elections in India driven by an extremist ideology and hegemonic ambitions was a serious challenge for Pakistan.

Speaking at the second convocation of Air University here, he said a peaceful neighbourhood and a people centric development agenda was Pakistan’s highest priority.

India continues to divert attention from HR violations in IoJK: Masood Khan
