Delhi riots: HC extends stay on Rs 25,000 costs imposed on Delhi Police for callous probe

New Delhi, Sep 13 (PTI) The Delhi High Court Monday extended the stay on Rs 25,000 costs imposed on the police by a trial court which had called the investigation in a case related to north-east Delhi riots "callous and farcical".

Justice Subramonium Prasad was informed by the Additional Solicitor General (ASG) S V Raju, representing Delhi Police, that they have not received the reply of complainant Mohammad Nasir in the matter.

Israel FM proposes 'economy for security' plan to deal with Gaza

13 Sep 2021; MEMO: Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid yesterday proposed a plan to defeat the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas in Gaza based on economic improvements.

In an address to the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism Conference, Lapid said: "We need to start a large, multiyear process of the economy for security."

He said that reoccupying Gaza or repeated Israeli offensives are not the best ways to deal with Gaza and neutralise Hamas and the other resistance groups.

India: Haryana govt orders judicial probe into Aug 28 incident, farmers call off Karnal sit-in

Chandigarh, Sep 11 (PTI) The Haryana government on Saturday ordered a judicial probe into last month's clash between farmers and police and sent the IAS officer who is at the centre of a row over his remarks on leave. Following this, farmers called off their sit-in outside the Karnal district headquarters.

Haryana Additional Chief Secretary Devender Singh said the probe will be conducted by a retired judge and will be completed within a month. Former SDM Ayush Sinha will remain on leave during the time, he said.

Israel police kill Palestine doctor in East Jerusalem

11 Sep 2021; MEMO: Palestinian doctor Hazem Al-Joulani, 50, on Friday evening succumbed to wounds sustained earlier in the day in Jerusalem's Old City, Quds Press reported.

The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO)'s Committee of Prisoners and Freed Prisoners confirmed that Al-Joulani succumbed to his wounds after being admitted to an Israeli hospital.

Israel settlers open fire on Palestine homes in West Bank

11 Sep 2021; MEMO: A number of Israeli settlers opened fire on Friday evening on Palestinian homes and vehicles in the Old City of Hebron, south of the occupied West Bank, Anadolu Agency reported.

Journalist Jamal Es'efan disclosed that the Israeli settlers smashed three vehicles owned by the Al-Razm family as they carried out a provocative tour around Wadi Al-Hussein in the Old City.

Pakistan, Qatar press for release of frozen Afghan assets

11 Sep 2021; MEMO: Pakistan and Qatar urged the US today to unfreeze Afghanistan's assets to save the country from total economic collapse, Anadolu Agency reports.

USA: Louisiana police boss says he’s open to federal oversight
