US astronauts pack up for rare splashdown in SpaceX capsule

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — Two U.S. astronauts about to make the first splashdown return in 45 years said Friday they’ll have seasick bags ready to use if needed.

SpaceX and NASA plan to bring Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken back Sunday afternoon in the company’s Dragon capsule, aiming for the Gulf of Mexico just off the Florida Panhandle. Flight controllers are keeping close watch on Hurricane Isaias, expected to stick to Florida’s east coast.

India: Scientists develop aromatic fabric in Kanpur

KANPUR: It was not known that a type of fabric delivering aroma would be developed. It has now been done so blatantly.

Though the scientists have developed a wholly new variety of cloth, the idea behind this fresh concept goes with the medical textiles laboratory of the City's Fragrance & Flavour Development Centre, as was reported.

Its assistant director S V Shukla pointed out that trials were going on to find out how many washes fragrance can truly survive.

India: Wipro to launch 5G edge services solutions suite

Bengaluru, Jul 23 (PTI) Wipro Limited announced on Thursday it will launch its 5G edge services solutions suite which is built with IBM TRIRIGA and IBM Edge Application Manager.

Wipro will engage with clients to implement the Universal Edge solutions suite that leverages 5G network capabilities, the Bengaluru-headquartered company said in a statement.

The 5G edge services solutions suite is designed to significantly enhance Wipro's existing BoundaryLess Enterprise

Universal Edge portfolio, it said.

China launches Mars mission

Beijing, Jul 23 (PTI) China successfully launched its first Mars probe on Thursday from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in the southern island province of Hainan, official media here reported.

About 36 minutes after the Mars probe was launched, the spacecraft, including an orbiter and a rover, was sent into the Earth-Mars transfer orbit, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA).

Netherlands: 3 companies buy high-speed frequencies in Dutch auction

The Hague, Jul 21 (AP/PTI) A Dutch government auction of frequencies that can be used by mobile telecom companies to provide new, high-speed 5G communications raised 1.23 billion euros (USD 1.4 billion), the minister responsible for the sale said Tuesday.

Three companies, KPN, T-Mobile and VodafoneZiggo, bought bandwidth, said State Secretary for Economic Affairs Mona Keijzer said.

UAE successfully launches its spacecraft "Al Amal" towards Mars

Dubai, Jul 20 (PTI) Emiratis brimmed with joy and pride as the UAE made history on Monday by successfully launching its spacecraft "Al Amal" towards Mars from a Japanese launch centre, marking the Arab world's first interplanetary mission, according to media reports.

Al Amal, or Hope Probe, weighing 1.3 tonnes was launched from the H-2A rocket from Japan's remote Tanegashima spaceport at 1.58 am local time.

India: Jio developing homegrown 5G telecom solution: Ambani

Mumbai, Jul 15 (PTI) Richest Indian Mukesh Ambani on Wednesday announced his group's digital arm Jio developing a homegrown 5G telecom solution.

"Jio has designed and developed a complete 5G solution from scratch. It will be ready for trials as soon as 5G spectrum is available and can be ready for field deployment next year," Ambani said at Reliance Industries' annual general meeting.

Turkey's 1st maritime missile successfully passes test

ANKARA, 06 July 2020; MEMO: Turkey's first indigenously produced maritime missile passed its latest long-distance test launch with flying colors, the nation’s top defense industry official said Saturday.

The Atmaca missile “performed its functions perfectly, it successfully hit a target over 200 kilometers [124 miles] away and is ready to enter the [Turkish Armed Forces'] weapons inventory,” Ismail Demir, the head of Turkey’s Defense Industries Presidency, said on Twitter.
