TRIPOLI, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah on Saturday met with his Tunisian counterpart, Hichem Mechichi, in Libya's capital Tripoli, where they signed an agreement on mutual trade and movement of travelers.

The agreement also includes technical cooperation on land, sea and air transportation, as well as activating the work of joint commissions on land and sea transportation, Dbeibah told a press conference following the meeting.

11 May 2021; MEMO: A tribal committee in Libya called on the government of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh to release political detainees who have already received judicial release notices.

The committee, speaking on behalf of the Warfalla, Qadhadhfa, Magarha, and Awlad Suleiman tribes, called on the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU) to fulfil its obligations regarding the reconciliation law.

TRIPOLI, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) on Thursday said it signed an agreement with the Libyan Ministry of Water Resources to extend their collaboration in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project.

Hailing its cooperation with the Libyan ministry as "outstanding," the UN agency said in a statement that its support for the North African country also includes emergency assistance for COVID-19 response.

06 May 2021; MEMO: Head of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, affirmed that his country adheres to the maritime agreement signed between Tripoli and Ankara, and pledged not to abandon the deal.

Dbeibeh said that the Libyan government disagreed with Greece's evaluation of the agreement, stressing that "the deal serves the Libyans, and we will not withdraw from it."

TRIPOLI, May 4 (NNN-Xinhua) — Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush on Monday met with her Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in the capital Tripoli and called on Turkey to cooperate to evacuate foreign forces from Libya.

“Mangoush called on Turkey to cooperate with regard to the implementation of the cease-fire agreement and the outcomes of the Berlin Conference, including the evacuation of foreign forces and mercenaries from the Libyan lands, in support of Libya’s sovereignty,” said a statement issued by the Libyan government.

01 May 2021; MEMO: The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has announced that Libyan authorities have rescued 125 children destined for Europe via boat off the Libyan coast, confirming that most were placed in detention centres.

TRIPOLI, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah on Saturday visited a power plant in western Tripoli, calling for intensified efforts to ensure power supply in the war-torn country.

During a meeting with officials of the General Electricity Company, the prime minister asked the state-owned company to try its best to stabilize the public power network and prevent any major power blackouts, pledging to provide all possible support for the company, said a statement issued by the prime minister's information office.

TRIPOLI, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The Libyan Coast Guard on Thursday rescued 99 illegal immigrants off the western coast of the town Mellitah, some 70 km west of the capital Tripoli, as their boat was about to sink.

On Wednesday, another 108 illegal immigrants were rescued off the country's western coast.

Libya is a preferred point of departure for thousands of illegal immigrants who attempt to cross the Mediterranean Sea toward Europe.

24 Apr 2021; MEMO: Chairman of the Libyan High Council of State Khalid Al-Mishri stressed on Friday his country's honouring agreements signed with Turkey and all deals signed with other countries, Anadolu Agency reports.

"We confirm our honouring to the agreements signed with Turkey as we honour all previous agreements with other countries," said Al-Mishri. "We stress on respecting the road map of the Libyan political dialogue forum in which the government was formed as part of its outcomes."

TRIPOLI, April 23 (Xinhua) -- More than 100 illegal immigrants have drowned when their boat capsized off Libyan coast, Eugenio Ambrosi, chief of staff of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), revealed later Thursday.

"Reports of at least 100 lives lost in the Central Mediterranean today," Ambrosi tweeted. "These are the human consequences of policies which fail to uphold international law and the most basic of humanitarian imperatives."
