8 Libyans injured by mine set up by Russian mercenaries

14 Sep 2021; MEMO: Eight members of the same family were wounded when a landmine was planted by the Russian Wagner Group, which fights on the side of renegade General Khalifa Haftar in the Libyan capital Tripoli, Anadolu reported.

The victims were six children and their parents, the report added.

Vidad Abu Al-Niran, head of the Libyan Ministry of Health's information department said that while some of the injuries were light, others were serious.

Libyan warlord Haftar hires ex-politicians to lobby for him in US

Libyan warlord and rogue commander Khalifa Haftar has hired former politicians to lobby for him in the United States, documents from the Justice Department outlined by the Wall Street Journal have revealed.

According to the filings from the Foreign Agents Registration Act dated 3 September, Haftar has agreed to pay a total of around $960,000 over a period of six months to hire the lobbying services of former politicians in Washington, DC.

Only elected authority decides future of foreign troops in Libya, gov't says

10 Sep 2021; MEMO: Chairman of the Libyan High Council of State Khaled Al-Mishri said yesterday that only the elected authorities can decide how long foreign troops remain in the country.

The media office of Libya's High Council said in a statement that Al-Mishri met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in the Turkish capital, Ankara, and discussed bilateral relations as well as issues that concern both countries.

The officials discussed the presence of mercenaries in Libya and the need to remove them as soon as possible.

UN commends release of Gaddafi's son, other former regime officials in Libya

TRIPOLI, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on Monday praised the decision of the Libyan authorities to release Al-Saadi Gaddafi, son of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi who was toppled and killed in 2011, along with other officials of the former regime.

"I officially announce the launching of the electronic grant application service through which the administrative and financial procedures are completed within 24 hours," Dbeibah said at a joint press conference with Youth Minister Fathallah Al-Zani and members of his cabinet.

Afrigate quotes a source a close to supporters of the former Gaddafi regime as saying that Saif Al-Islam's announcement had come on the 52nd anniversary of the Al-Fateh Revolution – the 1969 Libyan coup carried out against the late Libyan King Muhammad Idris Al-Senussi.

European Union stresses support for upcoming Libyan elections
