KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Chinese Coast Guard and Navy vessels have not been seen encroaching into Malaysian waters of late, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said. 

He said bilateral ties between both countries have been strengthened further in the 100 days since he was appointed to helm Wisma Putra. 

“One area I’ve had to work on since helming Wisma Putra is to improve Malaysia’s ties with China, India, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates… so when we talk about South China Sea, of course the relationship with China is important.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The Malaysian government today chartered two special flights to deport 367 Indian nationals held at various Immigration detention centres nationwide.

The Indian High Commission in Malaysia, said in a statement today that the two charter flights were operated by Malaysia Airlines, with one bound for Amritsar and the other for Chennai.

“This deportation exercise, which saw seamless cooperation between the governments of Malaysia and India, was successfully carried out today (July 11).

KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities will file legal action against the European Union over alleged discriminatory anti-palm oil campaign through a dispute settlement mechanism under the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

Its minister, Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said the legal action, in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Chamber, was based on principle and justification, as well as in line with the trade practices underlined by the WTO.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is ready to accommodate travel bubble when the government agrees to reopen its international borders, said Group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh.

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), June 29 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Beginning today, Malaysians and foreigners entering the country will have to bear the cost of COVID-19 tests which are conducted upon their arrival, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said, however, three categories of individuals including differently-abled people (OKU) carrying the OKU card issued by the Social Welfare Department (JKM) would be exempted from paying.

KOTA KINABALU, June 28 (NNN-BERNAMA) —  Another five districts in Sabah have been hit by floods as at 12 pm today, bringing the total number of districts inundated to 10 from five at 8 am this morning, following heavy rain since yesterday.

The five new districts affected by the floods are Tenom, Pitas, Beaufort, Membakut and Papar, besides the earlier affected districts of Kota Belud, Kota Marudu, Penampang, Keningau and Tuaran .

KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) on Friday called on the government to immediately take steps to support the ban on torture under international conventions.

SUHAKAM, in a statement, said the prohibition of torture was enshrined under Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) 1948 and Article 5 of the Federal Constitution of Malaysia.

It said one of the steps needed to be taken is to reduce the detention rate of detainees to overcome congestion in detention centres.

PEKAN, June 27 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The Malaysian government is firm in its stand to stop the entry of Rohingya refugees into the country, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob. 

He said the government is maintaining its stand that the best solution is to send them back and the Foreign Ministry has been told to discuss ways to realise the matter.

“We also told the Foreign Ministry to discuss with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as many countries in the world which talked about humanitarianism are not accepting them.
