Palestinian attacker shot; Israel and Hamas exchange fire

JERUSALEM (AP) — A Palestinian attacker in Jerusalem stabbed a man on a bus with a screw driver on Tuesday before he was shot by a bystander, Israeli police said.

Earlier Tuesday, Israeli aircraft struck a post belonging to the militant Hamas group in the Gaza Strip, in response to a gunshot fired into southern Israel from the Palestinian territory earlier in the day, the military said.

Israel Cancelled Expanded Work Permits For Gazans

JERUSALEM, Jul 17 (NNN-PNA) – Israel decided yesterday, to cancel a just recently increased quota of work permits for Palestinian labourers from Gaza, in response to rocket attacks earlier in the day.

The decision was announced by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), Israel’s military liaison to the Palestinians.

“Hamas takes responsibility for everything that happens in the Gaza Strip,” read the statement from COGAT.

Israel strikes Gaza target in response to rocket fire

JERUSALEM (AP) — The Israeli military attacked what it said was a Hamas military site in the Gaza Strip early Saturday in response to a pair of rocket attacks overnight. The exchange that took place hours after U.S. President Joe Biden concluded a visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories.

The army said its fighter jets struck an underground complex containing raw materials used in the production of rockets.

U.S., Israel sign joint pledge to deny Iran nuclear weaponry

JERUSALEM, July 14 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid signed a joint pledge on Thursday to deny Iran nuclear arms, a show of unity by allies long divided over diplomacy with Tehran.

The undertaking, part of a "Jerusalem Declaration" crowning Biden's first visit to Israel as president, came a day after he told a local TV station that he was open to "last resort" use of force against Iran - an apparent move toward accommodating Israel's calls for a "credible military threat" by world powers.

Biden, Lapid discuss Iran, integrating Israel in Middle East

JERUSALEM (AP) — President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid on Thursday discussed Iran’s rapidly progressing nuclear program, with the Israeli leader vowing afterward that “there will be no nuclear Iran.”

The U.S. president, who is set to travel to Saudi Arabia on Friday, said he also stressed to Lapid the importance of Israel becoming “totally integrated” in the region.

Repeating past comments he's made about Israel, he said: "You need not be a Jew to be Zionist."

Israel sells drones, anti-drone system to Bahrain

13 July 2022; MEMO: Bahrain will be purchasing drones and anti-drone systems from Israel, reported The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing an unnamed senior Bahraini official.

The report did not specify what type of drone or defence equipment would be in the deal.

Israeli Defence Minister, Benny Gantz, revealed last week that Israel has signed arms deals worth more than $3 billion with countries in the region since the signing of the Abraham Accords in 2020 with Arab countries.

Israel raises price of bread by 20%

14 July 2022; MEMO: In light of the global food crisis which has resulted from the Russian war on Ukraine, Israel announced yesterday that the price of regulated bread would rise by 20 per cent, the Economy and Industry Ministry said.

The decision is due to be approved today by the Finance Ministry's Price Committee and will come into effect on Sunday.
