Russian soldier killed in Nagorno-Karabakh by Mine planted by Armenian soldiers

19 Dec 2020; MEMO: A Russian soldier died after a mine planted by Armenian soldiers exploded in Nagorno-Karabakh, according to the country's Defence Ministry, Anadolu Agency reports.

In a statement, the ministry said the explosion occurred in the city of Shusha when Russian soldiers were clearing the area from mines.

A soldier was injured and later succumbed to his wounds in the hospital, said the statement.

It added that the soldier was on duty at Russia's International Mine Action Center.

Turkish team begins clearing mines in Upper Karabakh

17 Dec 2020; AA: Turkey’s Defense Ministry said Wednesday that 136 members of the Special Mine Detection and Clearance Team (OMAT) began clearing mined areas of Upper Karabakh that were liberated from Armenian occupation.  

"Clearing of mines and handmade explosives continues in [territories of] Karabakh which were heroically and selflessly liberated from Armenian occupation by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces,” the ministry said in a statement on its website.

Armenia needs new leaders: Erdogan

11 Dec 2020; MEMO:  Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday renewed a call for a change of leadership in Armenia, while offering the country the chance of joining a regional cooperation group alongside Azerbaijan, Reuters reports.

Erdogan made the comments in Baku, where he reviewed a military parade marking Armenia's defeat by Azerbaijan in a war in the disputed enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Azerbaijani troops enter Lachin district in Nagorno-Karabakh

BAKU, December 1. /TASS/: Units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have entered the Lachin district in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry’s press service informed.

"In accordance with the trilateral statement signed by presidents of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation and the prime minister of the Republic of Armenia, units of the Azerbaijani army entered the Lachin district on December 1 (in the early hours of December 1 Azerbaijani time - TASS)," the message informed.

4 Azerbaijani civilians killed in mine explosion laid by Armenian forces

29 Nov 2020; MEMO: Four Azerbaijani civilians lost their lives after a mine laid by Armenian forces exploded, state authorities said Saturday, Anadolu Agency reports.

The explosion occurred when a vehicle carrying the civilians came in contact with the landmine in the village of Ashagi Seyidahmedli of Fuzuli province, the Chief Prosecutor's Office said.

The province was recently liberated by the Azerbaijani army from nearly three-decades of Armenian occupation.

Azerbaijan: Armenians turned Aghdam into ruined city

22 Nov 2020; MEMO: Residents of Aghdam, which was occupied by Armenia for 27 years, said Saturday it was turned into a ruined city, Anadolu reports.

In Aghdam, where the Armenian army withdrew Nov. 20, there are almost no steady buildings.

About 143,000 Azerbaijanis once lived in the city but it now consists of poorly maintained roads and demolished buildings.

Karabakh conflict about to become a bygone, Azerbaijan’s president says

BAKU, November 20. /TASS/: The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict is about to become a bygone, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev said in an address to the nation timed for the handover of the Agdam district to Baku.

"The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict is about to be left behind. International experts agree with this, too," Aliyev said, adding that Baku managed to achieve its aims on the battlefield and on the political scene.

He said that mine clearing operations would begin in the Agdam district first thing.
