Iran: US ouster from Afghanistan 'humiliating'

18 Aug 2021; MEMO: Iran's top security official has said the departure of US forces from Afghanistan is "humiliating", days after the Taliban took over the neighbouring country.

"The end of any occupation is a humiliating dismissal," Ali Shamkhani, who heads the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, said today.

Iran’s President Lauds Ties With Iraq

TEHRAN, Aug 18 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi, yesterday said, relationship between Iran and Iraq are beyond merely neighbourly relations.

“The nations of Iran and Iraq have common aspirations,” said Raisi, in a telephone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhimi.

“A strong, independent, united, secure and prosperous Iraq is not only our dream, but also an agenda of the two countries, by developing bilateral and regional cooperation,” he was quoted as saying.

Iran sets up camps along Afghanistan border as Taliban advance

15 Aug 2021; MEMO: Iran said on Sunday it has prepared accommodation in three provinces bordering Afghanistan to provide temporary refuge to Afghans fleeing their country as Taliban insurgents enter the capital Kabul, reports Reuters.

"Camps have been built in border areas in three provinces," Interior Ministry official Hossein Qasemi told Iran's state news agency IRNA.

But he added that: "We expect those Afghan refugees to return home when the situation improves in Afghanistan."

Iran will impose 6-day ‘general lockdown’ over coronavirus

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran says it will impose a six-day-long “general lockdown” in cities across the country after being hit by what it describes as its fifth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, state media reported Saturday.

The lockdown includes all bazars, markets and public offices, as well as movie theaters, gyms and restaurants in all Iranian cities.

The lockdown will begin on Monday and will last through Saturday.

The national coronavirus taskforce, which issued the decision, also ordered a travel ban between all Iranian cities from Sunday to Friday.

Kabul’s delegation in Doha to read out message to world nations

TEHERAN, August 10. /TASS/: Afghanistan’s government delegation to the peace talks in Doha plans to read out an address to the countries of the region and the world, Freidun Hwazun, spokesman for the Afghanistan High Council for National Reconciliation, said on Tuesday.

"The delegation will present its message addressed to the countries of the region and the world," the TOLOnews television channel quoted him as saying.

Iran, France discuss reviving nuclear deal

10 Aug 2021; MEMO: Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi yesterday discussed with his French counterpart reviving the nuclear deal with the US and other world powers, AP and other news agencies reported.

According to IRNA news agency, Raisi told Emmanuel Macron that the US and European Union must implement their commitments under the landmark 2015 deal.

"In any negotiation, the rights of the Iranian nation should be secured and guaranteed," Raisi stressed.

Iran, Brazil to expand mining cooperation: Official

Tehran, IRNA – The head of Iran Mine House said that Iran and Brazil have great capacities to expand cooperation in mining field, especially in investment and equipment.

Mohammad Reza Bahraman told IRNA’s economic correspondent that a Brazilian delegation has recently visited Iran and discussed cooperation capacities with Iranian officials.

President directs all existing capacities to contain coronavirus

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi ordered the health minister to leverage all existing capacities in the country to contain the recent surge in the coronavirus spread.

Raisi told health minister and Khorasan Razavi Province governor-general in separate telephone calls to pursue the condition of coronavirus patients in the country and in Khorasan Razavi Province.

He underlined that all capacities in the country be deployed to acceleration containment of the spread of the virus and treatment of all patients and gave required orders.

US not to gain outcome with Trump mentality says FM Spokesman

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Monday that the United States won’t have an achievement unless they put aside former US President Donald Trump's mentality and considers facts on the ground.

In his weekly press conference, Khatibzadeh said that Foreign Ministry of Iran summoned UK’s chargé d'affaires and Romania’s Ambassador in Iran on the allegations made against Iran over the maritime incident off the coast of Oman leading to the death a British and a Romanian citizen.

Iran won’t hesitate to respond to any aggression: Envoy

Belgrade, IRNA – Iran’s Embassy in Serbia published a message in response to the Israeli regime Ambassador to Belgrade, saying that Iran would respond to any aggression against its interests and citizens.

In the message that was published on Friday in Serbian media, Iran’s Embassy emphasized that peace and stability has always been a priority for Iran as a country with the longest coast in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
