Russia kills 3 civilians in Syria’s Idlib

25 Nov 2019; MEMO: At least three civilians were killed in Russian air strikes in the Idlib de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria, as reported by Anadolu Agency. 

The death toll from the attacks on residential areas in the Idlib de-escalation zone over the past month reached 75, including 13 children, said the White Helmets.

Syria increase salaries amid collapse of Pound

22 Nov 2019; MEMO: Syrian President Bashar al-Assad issued a decree on Thursday to increase salaries for Syrian government workers and pensioners amid the collapse of the Syrian Pound. The order provides an increase of 20,000 Syrian Pounds (about $28) on the monthly salaries and wages of the military and civilian employees.

Death toll of Israeli airstrikes on Syrian military sites rises to 23

DAMASCUS, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- The death toll of the Israeli airstrikes on Syrian military sites on Wednesday has risen to 23, including two civilians, a war monitor and state media reported.

The state-run SANA news agency said two civilians were killed in the after-midnight airstrikes carried out by Israeli warplanes from outside the Syrian airspace on positions around the capital Damascus.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 21 fighters, including five Syrians, were killed as well as two civilians, a man and his wife.

Syrian air defenses respond to missile attack

DAMASCUS, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian air defenses on Wednesday responded to foreign missile strikes on Damascus, state media reported.

The air defenses intercepted a number of missiles in southern Damascus, said the state TV.

Sound of explosions was reverberating across the capital city early Wednesday morning, it reported.

The Syrian army said in a statement that Israeli warplanes from the occupied Golan Heights and the Lebanese Marj Oyoun area targeted the vicinity of Damascus with a number of missiles.

Syria army launches 2nd military operation against Idlib

15 Nov 2019; MEMO: Syrian regime forces yesterday launched their second military operation against the southeast of Idlib, aiming at regaining full control over the war-torn province.

Russia’s Sputnik reported that the Syrian forces were able to take control of Idlib’s Tal Khaznah and Lobidiyah towns following “heavy air strikes backed by the Russian air forces.”

US troops at Syria base say they’ll keep pressure on IS

A BASE IN EASTERN SYRIA (AP) — At a base in eastern Syria, a senior U.S. coalition commander said Monday that American troops who remain in Syria are redeploying to bases, including in some new locations, and working with the Kurdish-led forces to keep up the pressure on the Islamic State militants and prevent the extremists from resurging or breaking out of prisons.

Russia deploys helicopter patrols along Syria, Turkey border

9 Nov 2019; MEMO: On Friday Russian forces deployed helicopters to patrol the Syrian-Turkish borders along the area where Turkey carried out the operation to evacuate People’s Protection Units (YPG) terrorists, Russian news agency, Interfax, reported.

According to Interfax, the Russian helicopter patrols aim to protect Russian military police working on the ground.

Russian helicopters will patrol Syria's north daily

TABKA, November 8. /TASS/: Russian Aerospace Defense Forces will carry out patrolling missions in Syria's northern provinces daily, pilot Dmitry Ivanov told reporters on Friday.

"We have started fulfilling special tasks on aerial patrolling of northern provinces of the Syrian Arab Republic. Aerial patrolling will be carried out on several routes and will be performed by groups of helicopters in pairs at the altitude of 50-60 meters," Ivanov said.

Syrian army, Kurdish forces cooperate against Turkey-backed rebels

DAMASCUS, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian army and the Kurdish forces cooperated on Thursday and retook a village from the Turkey-backed rebels in northern Syria, an incident that marked military cooperation between both forces against the Turkey-led offensive in northern Syria, according to a war monitor.

The Syrian army and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) captured the village of Um Shaifeh in the countryside of Hasakah province following intense battles with the Turkish forces and the Turkey-backed rebels, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
