Several injured in ‘bomb attack’ on Armistice Day ceremony at Saudi cemetery

JEDDAH (Saudi Arabia), Nov 12 (NNN-AGENCIES) — At least three people were wounded Wednesday in what French officials described as a “bomb attack” targeting a World War I commemoration ceremony attended by European diplomats at a non-Muslim cemetery in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

France’s Foreign Ministry said the attack had taken place at a ceremony marking the end of World War I and that several people had been wounded as a result of an explosive device.

Saudi king points to Iran as top threat in policy speech

Dubai, Nov 12 (AP/PTI) Saudi Arabia's King Salman slammed rival Iran and hailed his country's efforts at combating the coronavirus and stabilizing oil supplies in an annual speech delivered early Thursday.

The speech, which outlined the country's policy priorities and achievements, was delivered virtually by the 82-year-old monarch to the advisory Shura Council in the presence of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

06 Nov 2020; MEMO: The Saudi authorities have decided to exclude five professions from the amendments to the sponsorship system aimed at improving the contractual relationship between Saudi employers and expatriate workers.

The five professions include: private driver, guard, domestic worker, shepherd and gardener.

Saudi Arabia eases ‘kafala’ system restrictions on migrant workers

RIYADH, Nov 6 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Saudi Arabia has announced it will ease some of the contractual restrictions giving employers control over the lives of some 10 million migrant workers.

The reforms will allow private sector workers to change jobs and leave the country without an employer’s consent.

The Saudi government said it was seeking to “improve and increase the efficiency of the work environment”.

Rights groups say the current “kafala” (sponsorship) system leaves workers vulnerable to abuse and exploitation.

Assange attorney joins Bin Salman’s defence team

Bin Salman is involved in two cases before the US courts related to human rights violations and the killing and attempted killing of dissidents.

Saudi Aramco’s Q3 profit drops by nearly 50%

03 Nov 2020; MEMO: Saudi Arabia’s oil and gas giant, Aramco, reported its third quarter profits with a net profit of $11.79 billion; a 44.6 per cent drop from last year’s $21.3 billion, which is in line with analysts’ expectations.

Aramco said it had maintained a $18.75 billion dividend which will be paid in the fourth quarter of this year, noting that the capital expenditures in the third quarter amounted to $6.4 billion.
