Muslim Brotherhood does not rule out change in Egypt, region with Biden administration

07 Dec 2020; MEMO:  Deputy Supreme Guide of Muslim Brotherhood, Ibrahim Munir, said on Saturday he does not rule out change in Egypt and the region when US President-elect Joe Biden moves into the White House, Anadolu reported.

Speaking to Al Jazeera Mubasher, Munir said that economic woes and COVID-19 "could push for a change", but this needs "calm and rearrangement", adding that the human rights issue in Egypt could be a third factor for the potential change.

Arab League Welcomes Kuwait’s Efforts To “Heal Arab Rifts”

CAIRO, Dec 5 (NNN-MENA) – The Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, praised Kuwait’s efforts to “heal Arab rifts.”

In a statement, Aboul-Gheit said, he is following the current efforts and good offices of Kuwait, to “heal the Arab rift and eliminate causes of disagreement among a number of Arab countries.”

The Arab League chief stressed that, restoring confidence among Arab countries and removing the roots of the problems that led to disputes are the only ways to end the differences.

Egyptian rights group head hopes release will help other prisoners

CAIRO (Reuters) - The head of a leading Egyptian human rights group who was held for two weeks on terrorism charges said on Saturday he hoped that the campaign to secure his release would help others still jailed on similar allegations.

Activists saw the detention last month of Gasser Abdel Razek, executive director of the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR), and two of the group’s other staff, as the latest escalation of a broad crackdown on political dissent under President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Economic reform program helps Egypt face COVID-19 challenges: minister

CAIRO, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala al-Saeed, said on Wednesday that the economic reform program that Egypt adopted in 2016 enabled the government to face up to the negative repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The minster made the remarks in a speech during the second Egypt Economic Summit held under the auspices of Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

Egypt man returns to life after 'dying' from covid

01 Dec 2020; MEMO:  One of the large private hospitals in Egypt on Saturday announced the death of an Egyptian citizen after the deterioration of his health due to coronavirus, but the man was later found alive, RT reported.

The hospital declared the man was dead and called an ambulance to take him to his family in order for him to be buried.

Russian ambassador to Egypt issues responds to criticism of bilateral relations

CAIRO, November 26. /TASS/: Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko has issued an open letter to the Egyptian daily Al-Shorouq to respond to a critical article by its editor-in-chief Emad El Deen Hussein entitled A New Pause with the Russian Friend.

The open letter was posted on the Russian embassy’s Facebook account on Wednesday.

Six-Nation Joint Military Exercise Starts In Egypt

CAIRO, Nov 23 (NNN-MENA) – A six-nation joint military exercise called “Sword of Arabs,” kicked off at the largest military base in Egypt, the Egyptian Armed Forces, announced yesterday.

The military exercise, participated by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain and Sudan, will last till Thursday, said a statement, released by the Egyptian Armed forces.
