CAIRO, Jun 18 (NNN-MENA) – A supply ship loaded with hundreds of tonnes of relief aid from Egypt, had arrived in conflict-torn Sudan, the Egyptian military announced, yesterday.

The military spokesman, Gharib Abdel-Hafez, said in a statement that, the Egyptian navy ship had arrived at Port Sudan and unloaded hundreds of tonnes of foodstuffs, medical supplies and other aid material.

The supplies, sponsored by the Egyptian ministries of defence and social solidarity, as well as, some local associations, would be sent to most needy areas in Sudan, the spokesman said.

CAIRO, Jun 14 (NNN-MENA) – Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, warned yesterday, against the implementation of Israeli plans to build thousands of settlements in the occupied West Bank.

He stressed, such plans undermine the two-state solution by grabbing the lands of the future Palestinian state, according to a statement published on the website of the Arab League.

14 June 2023; MEMO: Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, yesterday called on the US to take a stand against illegal Israeli settlement.

This came in response to Israeli plans to build more than 4,000 settlement units in the occupied Palestinian West Bank.

CAIRO, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Egypt and the Republic of Korea have signed a financing deal worth 460 million U.S. dollars on manufacturing 40 trains that include 320 carriages for the second and third lines of the metro in Cairo, the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation announced Tuesday.

The agreement was signed in Cairo by the Egyptian ministry and the ROK's Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) on Monday.

Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat said the deal is part of the soft finance provided by the EDCF to Egypt.

CAIRO (AP) — The United Nations has secured an insurance coverage to start a ship-to-ship transfer of 1.1 million barrels of crude from a rusting tanker moored off the coast of war-torn Yemen — oil that could cause a major environmental disaster.

The United Nations Development Program described the insurance is “a pivotal milestone” in a yearslong effort to evacuate the cargo of the FSO Safer, which is at risk of rupture or exploding.

13 June 2023; MEMO: Egypt's supply minister has denied that India is providing Cairo with a credit line to help boost the North African country's failing economy, after Bloomberg reported New Delhi was giving Cairo an unspecified sum.

Reuters reported that the Egyptian Supply Minister Ali Moselhy said that instead, discussions were ongoing for imports using local currencies other than the dollar.

11 June 2023; MEMO: The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced Saturday that a new visa entry system has been initiated for Sudanese wishing to enter, Anadolu reports.

The decision came as the number of Sudanese fleeing ongoing fighting in Sudan has reached more than 200,000 since mid-April.

"These measures aim to set an organisational framework for that process after more than 50 days since the outbreak of the crisis," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a statement.

CAIRO (AP) — Egyptian authorities said three British nationals were missing after a scuba diving boat they were cruising in caught fire off Egypt’s Red Sea coastline on Sunday.

In a short statement, Egypt’s Red Sea Governate said 12 crew members and 12 British tourists were rescued when a medium-sized scuba diving boat, christened “Hurricane,” went up in flames off the southern Red Sea resort town of Marsa Alam.

A search party was launched to find the remaining three British tourists whose identities were not revealed.

June 8 (Reuters) - A Russian citizen was killed in a shark attack near a beach at the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Hurghada, Russia's Consulate General in the city and two Egyptian security sources said on Thursday.

Egypt's Environment Ministry said in a statement posted on Facebook that a tiger shark was responsible for the death of a beachgoer, without giving details of the victim.

CAIRO (AP) — The Sudanese government announced that the U.N. envoy to the country and key mediator in its brutal conflict is no longer welcome as the warring sides in the African nation agreed to a new, 24-hour cease-fire.

Sudan’s Foreign Ministry issued a terse statement late Thursday, weeks after the military chief, Gen. Abdel Fattah Burhan, demanded in a letter that envoy Volker Perthes be removed from his post. The ministry said U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres was notified that Perthes was declared persona non grata by Sudan.
