JERUSALEM (AP) — A journalist for Al-Jazeera was shot and killed while covering an Israeli raid in the occupied West Bank town of Jenin early Wednesday. The broadcaster blamed Israeli forces, who said they were investigating the incident.

Shireen Abu Akleh, a well-known Palestinian female reporter for the broadcaster’s Arabic language channel, was shot and died soon afterward. Another Palestinian journalist working for the Jerusalem-based Al-Quds newspaper was wounded but in stable condition, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

JERUSALEM (AP) — The government of Israel’s embattled prime minister was limping on Monday into the opening of parliament’s summer session on the verge of collapse.

Less than a year after taking office, Naftali Bennett has lost his parliamentary majority, his own party is crumbling and a key governing partner has suspended cooperation with the coalition. That has set the stage for a possible attempt by the opposition, led by former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to topple the government later this week.

09 May 2022; MEMO: Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett claimed on Sunday that Israel alone has sovereignty over the occupied city of Jerusalem, and there is no foreign interference, Israeli media reported.

At the start of the weekly meeting of his cabinet, Bennett said: "All decisions regarding the Temple Mount [Al-Aqsa Mosque] and Jerusalem will be made by the Israeli government, which holds sovereignty over the city, without any foreign considerations."

JERUSALEM, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced Sunday that the country was establishing a civilian national guard to "fight terrorism."

His announcement was made in public remarks shortly after two Palestinians suspected of killing three Israelis in a knife attack were arrested earlier in the day.

Bennett noted that Israel was entering "a new stage in the war on terrorism," and the need for a national guard is "more urgent than ever."

JERUSALEM (AP) — A pair of Palestinian attackers went on a stabbing rampage in a town near Tel Aviv on Thursday night, killing at least three people and wounding four others before fleeing in a vehicle, Israeli authorities said.

Police launched a massive search for the assailants, setting up roadblocks and dispatching a helicopter. The stabbing, coming on Israel’s Independence Day, was the latest in a string of deadly attacks in Israeli cities in recent weeks.

JERUSALEM (AP) — If, during your travels in the Holy Land, you decide to take the next step with your Palestinian sweetheart, you should notify the Israeli military within 30 days.

That’s what it says on page 30 of a new 97-page policy released by COGAT, the Israeli military body in charge of civilian affairs in the occupied West Bank. The policy, set to take effect later this year, specifies that the “start of the relationship” is the engagement, the wedding or when you move in together.

02 May 2022; MEMO: Israel's government on Monday ordered communications firms to step up their cyber security efforts in the wake of a rise in attempted hacking attacks, reports Reuters.

New regulations are currently being implemented in which mandatory and unified standards will have to be met, the Communications Ministry and Israel's National Cyber Directorate said.
