Laos To Expand Energy Trade With Vietnam

VIENTIANE, Laos, Aug 22 (NNN-KPL) – Laos is targeting an increase in electricity trade with Vietnam on a year-on-year basis, after the two sides reached agreements on developing energy and mining projects and electricity trading contracts earlier this year.

The bilateral cooperation agreement on developing energy and mining projects, was among several pacts signed at the 40th Meeting of the Laos-Vietnam Inter-governmental Committee in Vietnam in 2019.

24 July 2018; (KPL) Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith has suspended the planned monthly meeting of the government for August and led his cabinet members and other senior officials to Sanamxay to monitor rescue and relief efforts being made for flood victims. 

The collapse of the Xepian-Xe Nam Noy hydropower dam on Monday caused flash flooding in six villages of Sanamxay district including Yai Thae, Hinlad, Mai, Thasengchan, Tha Hin, and Samong. Hinlad and Mai villages were hard-hit.
