Pakistan: FM to visit Moscow; deliberate upon bilateral ties, global issues

ISLAMABAD, January 28 (APP): Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will undertake an official visit to Moscow from 29-30 January, at the invitation of Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

“The Foreign Minister will hold official talks with his Russian counterpart where the two sides would deliberate upon the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and exchange views on the regional and international issues of mutual interest,” the Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release on Saturday.

Six Killed In Hospital Fire In Eastern India

NEW DELHI, Jan 28 (NNN-PTI) – At least six people died in a fire, that broke out inside a private hospital, in India’s eastern state of Jharkhand today, a local cop said over phone.

The fire broke out on the second floor of the Hazra Hospital, in the Bank More area of the Dhanbad district, in the early hours of the day.

The dead included the private hospital’s owner (doctor), his wife, a servant, and two relatives. Most of the deaths were caused by asphyxiation, said the cop.

Pakistan Strongly Condemned Israel’s Attack On West Bank

ISLAMABAD, Jan 28 (NNN-APP) – Pakistan yesterday, strongly condemned Israel’s attack on the occupied northern West Bank, according to the country’s Foreign Ministry.

The Israeli armed forces stormed the Jenin refugee camp, in the northern West Bank on Thursday, and killed nine Palestinians, including an elderly woman, and wounded 16, four of them in serious condition.

Afghan female students not allowed to sit university entrance exam

KABUL, Jan 28 (Reuters) - The Taliban-run Ministry of Higher Education ordered private universities in Afghanistan not to allow female students to sit university entrance exams next month, underscoring its policy to restrict women from tertiary education.

A letter from the ministry was addressed to institutions in Afghanistan's northern provinces, including Kabul, where exams are due to take place from the end of February. The letter said those institutions that did not observe the rules would face legal action.

India establishes 3 Grievance Appellate Committees to ensure accountability of internet platforms

NEW DELHI, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Indian government on Saturday established three Grievances Appellate Committees (GAC) that will address users' complaints against social media and other internet-based platforms to ensure accountability of internet platforms.

GAC is based on the recently amended Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, IT Rules 2021 and the committees are composed of three members each.

India: Jajmauites get sufficient relief as sun glints

Kanpur: Sunny weather in the afternoon on Friday sparkles the eyes of Jajmauites.

India: Couple ends life by jumping before train over dispute in Kanpur

Kanpur: A couple committed suicide by jumping before a moving train over a trivial dispute in the district.

According to the reports, Raj Kishore and his wife Anjana were employed in a private company. They used to travel together by train on their convenience from Mandhana station under Chaubeypur police circle here.

The reports further said that Anjana went to attend a friend's birthday party and reached the railway station late in the evening.

This made Raj Kishore enraged who in a huff reprimanded her badly.

Pakistan strongly condemns despicable act of Holy Quran’s desecration in Netherlands

ISLAMABAD, Jan 25 (APP):Pakistan on Wednesday strongly condemned the despicable act of desecration of the Holy Quran in the Netherlands on January 22, 2023.

“It is undoubtedly a provocative Islamophobic hate crime committed under the guise of freedom of expression. Such offensive acts deeply hurt the feelings of 1.5 billion Muslims around the world and can create disharmony among the international community,” the Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement.

Pakistan: PM, UAE president resolve to further enhance bilateral relations

RAHIM YAR KHAN, Jan 25 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday met President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan wherein the two leaders expressed their resolve to further enhance brotherly bilateral relations.

The meeting took place here as the UAE president arrived in Pakistan on a private visit, a PM Office statement said.
