LAHORE, May 11 (APP): A two-member ladies golf team, comprising Parkha Ijaz and Aania Farooq, accompanied by a Lady Manager Zeenat Ayesha, left here on Saturday for Thailand to compete in the 27th Singha Thailand Ladies Open Golf Championship.

This Championship is co-hosted by Thailand Ladies Golf Association and Amata Spring Country Club and will be contested over three rounds from 14th May to 16th May, said a spokesman for Pakistan Golf Federation while talking to APP.

ISLAMABAD, May 12 (APP): Pakistan and China are working closely to resolve the issue of marriages of Pakistani women and human trafficking by some Chinese nationals.

This was stated by Foreign Office spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Faisal in a statement issued here on Sunday.

He said that the relevant authorities from both Governments are in close contact on this issue.

ISLAMABAD, May 9 (APP): Pakistan on Thursday called upon the World Bank to set up its Court of Arbitration under Indus Water Treaty after India hinted of restricting the flow of water into Pakistan from its share of rivers.

Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal, at a weekly press briefing, said contrary to India’s reluctance, Pakistan favoured the continuity of Treaty and also the smooth functioning of its dispute resolution mechanism.

ISLAMABAD, May 9 (APP): Minister for Climate Change, Zartaj Gul on Thursday informed the National Assembly that the government is currently working on a plan to prohibit single use plastic bags in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) by August 14.

Replying to a question of Ms. Naureen Farooq Ibrahim in the National Assembly, the minister said that an SRO under the Pakistan Environmental Protection Act 1997 is being drafted to give legal cover to the proposed action.

Islamabad, May 8; PTI/GANASHAKTI: Pakistan on Wednesday summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia and condemned the "unprovoked ceasefire violations" by the Indian security forces along the Line of Control which resulted in the death of three civilians.

The Foreign Office (FO) said: "the Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary (WB) are continuously targeting civilian populated areas with heavy weapons".

Lahore, May 8 (PTI) Pakistan's deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif has returned to prison to serve his sentence in a corruption case after the end of his six-week bail which was granted to him on medical grounds.

On March 26, the Supreme Court suspended Sharif's seven-year sentence in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption case and granted him bail for six weeks with a condition that he would not leave Pakistan.
