Iran rejects U.S. Mideast peace plan as "disgraceful"

TEHRAN, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday strongly rejected the U.S. Middle East peace plan as "disgraceful."

In a statement released hours after U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of the so-called Deal of the Century, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said it is the "betrayal of the century" and is "doomed to failure."

"Palestine belongs to the Palestinians," he said.

Iranian FM Says U.S. Mideast Peace Plan “Delusional”

TEHRAN, Iran, Jan 28 (NNN-TASNIM) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, on Monday, said that, the U.S. President, Donald Trump’s so-called “Deal of the Century” for the Middle East is “delusional.”

“Instead of a delusional ‘Deal of the Century’ – which will be D.O.A.- self-described ‘champions of democracy’ would do better to accept Iran’s democratic solution,” Zarif tweeted.

On Monday, Trump said that, he will reveal his Middle East peace plan on Tuesday (today).

Iran, Oman discuss maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz

27 Jan 2020; MEMO: Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif yesterday discussed bilateral cooperation regarding the Strait of Hormuz with his Omani counterpart, Yusuf Bin Alawi Bin Abdullah in Tehran, the Tasnim news agency reported.

The agency said the two ministers confirmed their countries’ intention to continue cooperation and consultation to ensure maritime and energy security for all.

Iranian airliner refutes speculation about emergency landing

Tehran, Jan 26, IRNA - Iran Air Tour Company rejected speculations on social media about emergency landing of Tehran-Istanbul Flight No. 9716 for not opening the wheels.

The Iranian airliner said that minutes after taking off, the Airbus A300-600 which had left Imam Khomeini International Airport for Istanbul, the pilot diagnosed a technical problem.

Thanks to the fact that it was an international flights and the plane was still in Iran airspace, the pilot returned to Mehrabad Airport, it added.

Iran: Zarif advises Trump to base US foreign policy on facts

Tehran, Jan 26, IRNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message advised the US President Donald Trump to base his foreign policy on facts.

"@realdonaldtrump is better advised to base his foreign policy comments & decisions on facts, rather than @FoxNews headlines or his Farsi translators," Zarif tweeted on Sunday.

He then advised Trump to read his entire interview (in English) in the German weekly news magazine, 'Der Spiegel'.

Iran able to enrich uranium "at any level": official

TEHRAN, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Iran is capable to enrich uranium at "whatever level of purity," Ali Asghar Zarean, a special assistant to the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), was quoted as saying by state TV on Saturday.

"Right now, if the (Islamic) establishment deems necessary, the AEOI has the capability to enrich uranium at whatever percentage of purity", Zarean said.

Zarean noted that Iran is currently producing 10 kilograms of uranium each day at under-5-percent purity level.

Iran condemns 'inhuman' US treatment of its nationals

Tehran, Jan 25 (AFP/PTI) Iran condemned Saturday what it called the "illegal and inhuman" treatment of its nationals by US border security officers, after reports a student was deported despite having a valid visa.

"Such absolutely discriminatory measures that only happen over people's race, nationality or religion are against international human rights laws and principles," foreign ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said.

Zarif: person who downed Ukrainian airliner by mistake is in prison

TEHRAN, January 25. /TASS/: The person whose error resulted in the downing of a Ukrainian airliner by the Iranian army is in prison, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Saturday.

"The person who shot down a Ukrainian airliner in Iran by mistake is today in prison," the ISNA news agency quoted him as saying.

Senior Iran official invites Saudi Arabia to resolve problems

23 Jan 2019; MEMO: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi yesterday called on Saudi Arabia to work together with Iran to resolve their problems.

Vaezi told reporters that relations between the two states “should not become like the relationship between Tehran and the United States … Tehran and Riyadh should work together to resolve their problems.”

Senior Iranian officials have recently conveyed similar messages on restoring relations with rival Saudi Arabia.

Iran rules out sending black boxes of crashed Ukrainian plane abroad for decoding

TEHRAN, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Wednesday ruled out handing over the black boxes of the crashed Ukrainian plane to other countries for decoding, Press TV reported.

"The so-called black boxes should remain with an Iranian team that is investigating the incident," said Iranian Minister of Transportation Mohammad Eslami.

The data recorders have to be solely analyzed by the accident investigation team at Iran's Civil Aviation Organization, Eslami added.
