India: Blinken, Lavrov speak amid war of words over Ukraine at G20 meet

NEW DELHI, March 2 (Reuters) - The United States and its European allies sparred with Russia over the war in Ukraine at a meeting of G20 foreign ministers in New Delhi on Thursday, with the rival sides each accusing the other of destabilising the world.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a brief encounter on the meeting's sidelines during which Blinken urged Russia to reverse its decision on the New START nuclear treaty, a senior U.S. official said.

Indian PM calls for G20 unity to resolve geopolitical tensions

NEW DELHI, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday appealed for unity to resolve prevailing geopolitical tensions at G20 foreign ministers' meeting being held in the Indian capital of New Delhi.

Modi said that the world looks upon G20 to deal with challenges of development, economic resilience, financial stability, corruption, terrorism and food and energy security.

Modi said that India has selected the theme of "One Earth, One Family, One Future" for its G20 presidency, which signals the need for unity of purpose and unity of action.

India, China foreign ministers hold talks to mend ties

NEW DELHI (AP) — The foreign ministers of India and China met Thursday on the sidelines of a gathering of top diplomats from the Group of 20 industrialized and developing nations and signaled a thawing of ties in their relationship, which has been tense since 2020.

India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said talks with his Chinese counterpart Qin Gang “focused on addressing current challenges to the bilateral relationship, especially peace and tranquility in the border areas.”

India: Students fearing too much about their final results in Kanpur

India: Lavrov holds meeting with his Brazilian counterpart in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, March 1. /TASS/: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with his Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The top diplomats warmly greeted each other before starting the meeting, after which the talks continued in a closed format.

Earlier on Wednesday, Lavrov met with Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu. The Russian top diplomat also attended the opening of an exhibition on the works of Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi.

As reported, Amit Dubey, a 28-year-old compounder, attempted to scare his wife into submission by putting a noose around his neck.


The husband Amit had returned home in an inebriated state and his wife, Shweta, objected vehemently to his drinking habit.

After an argument, Amit locked the door from the inside and put a noose around his neck to scare his wife.

However, he lost his balance and the noose tightened ultimately around his neck.

India: Apple supplier Foxlink's fire safety systems mostly faulty, official says

CHITTOOR, India, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Most of the fire safety equipment at Apple supplier Foxlink's (2392.TW) facility in southern India was not functional, a government official told Reuters on Tuesday, a day after a massive blaze forced production to be halted.

The factory, which makes charging cables for iPhones, is located in the Chittoor district of India's Andhra Pradesh state and is unlikely to resume full operations for two months, raising supply chain concerns for the U.S. tech giant, Reuters reported earlier in the day.

India: British period's Ursula hospital completes 86 years of service

Kanpur: City's older Ursula Henry Horseman Hospital has completed its 86 years. It is one of the oldest hospitals of Kanpur.

Ursula Hospital got its name in year 1937 when the hospital was renovated and renamed.

It was established in the year 1870 as Sadar Dispensary. Henry Horseman, brother of British Officer Albert Francis Horseman, established this building as a large hospital.

He  also named the hospital after his wife, Ursula Horseman. Henry and Ursula married in  year1921 but she died in a plane crash in year1935.
