Lahore is most polluted city, Chad worst among countries - survey

NEW DELHI, March 14 - Lahore in Pakistan jumped more than 10 places to become the city with the worst air in the world in 2022, according to an annual global survey by a Swiss maker of air purifiers.

The report published on Tuesday by IQAir also said that Chad in central Africa had replaced Bangladesh as the country with the most polluted air last year.

IQAir measures air quality levels based on the concentration of lung-damaging airborne particles known as PM2.5. Its annual survey is widely cited by researchers and government organisations.

Indian Gov’t Imposed Money Laundering Provisions On Cryptocurrencies

NEW DELHI, Mar 19 (NNN-PTI) – In a bid to tighten oversight of digital assets, the Indian government has imposed money laundering provisions on cryptocurrencies or virtual assets, officials said yesterday.

A gazette notification, issued by the country’s federal finance ministry, said, the anti-money laundering legislation has been applied to crypto trading, safekeeping, and related financial services.

With this decision, digital assets, cryptos or virtual asset businesses, will now fall under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.

India's Adani Group pre-pays over $900 million worth share-backed financing

BENGALURU, March 7 (Reuters) - Embattled Indian conglomerate Adani Group said it prepaid share-backed financing of 73.74 billion rupees ($901.16 million), as it looks to allay fears over leverage and debt since a U.S. short seller's critical report sparked a stock rout.

Hindenburg Research had in its Jan. 24 report alleged stock manipulation and improper use of tax havens by Adani, and flagged "substantial" debt levels, which the group has denied.

Apple iPhones to be assembled at new plant in India's Karnataka state

BENGALURU, March 3 (Reuters) - Apple Inc's (AAPL.O) iPhones will soon be assembled at another site in the southern Indian state of Karnataka and 300 acres have been aside to set up a factory, the state government said on Friday.

Bloomberg News had earlier reported that Apple partner Foxconn Technology Group planned to invest about $700 million in the Karnataka site to ramp up local production.

The state's investment promotion division said in a tweet that the move would generate 100,000 employment in the next 10 years.

NEW DELHI (AP) — The top diplomats of Australia, India, Japan and the United States said Friday their Indo-Pacific-focused bloc is not aimed at countering China but released a statement filled with buzzwords and phrases that reflect growing unease over China’s influence in the region.

The diplomats spoke for less than 10 minutes, according to the report. Blinken also said the US is prepared "to support Ukraine's defense as long as it takes."

Lavrov’s trip to India for G20 meeting: Western 'farce,' quick word with Blinken
