India: All property deals done transparently; will expose Fadnavis' underworld connection: Nawab Malik

Mumbai, Nov 9 (PTI) Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik on Tuesday refuted former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis' charge that the former had bought land parcels from the people linked with the underworld, saying he will drop a hydrogen bomb on Wednesday and expose the "underworld links" of the BJP leader.

India: SP will sit on dharna against EC if draft electoral roll not given: Akhilesh

Lucknow, Nov 9 (PTI) Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said his party may go on a sit-in against the Election Commission if it does not provide them the draft voters list before the final publication ahead of the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

The final electoral roll will be published on January 5 next year by the poll body and the SP wants the draft list to be given immediately.

India: Dentist rapes patient after drugging her in UP

Bareilly (UP), Nov 8 (PTI) A dentist allegedly raped a 32-year-old woman after administering an injection which made her unconscious and also shot a video of the incident in the district, police said on Monday.

The dentist was arrested on Sunday, they said.

The victim was suffering from a toothache and had gone to a dental clinic in Saidpur Hawkins locality on October 16 where the dentist told her that her tooth will have to be removed, Superintendent of Police (City) Ravindra Kumar said.

Delhi govt hikes minimum wages for labourers

New Delhi, Nov 8 (PTI) Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday announced an increase in the minimum wages of unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled labourers, saying it will help them tide over the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and price rise.

The hike takes the monthly wages of unskilled workers from Rs 15,908 to Rs 16,064 while the monthly wages of semi-skilled workers will increase from Rs 17,537 to Rs 17,693, a Delhi government statement said.

India: Naxals release five abducted villagers in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Nov 8 (PTI) Naxals have released five people, including a class 12 girl, who they had abducted from a village in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district two days back, police said on Monday.

These five people reached their village Bater under the Konta police station limits on Monday morning, Sukma Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma said.

Some of them were reported to be assaulted by ultras, he added.

India: Woman raped by man on pretext of job in Dwarka

New Delhi, Nov 8 (PTI) A woman alleged that a man raped her after forcefully taking her to a hotel room in Dwarka on the pretext of providing her a job, police said on Monday.

The incident took place on November 6 and according to the victim's complaint, a man named Ankit Sehrawart had been contacting her on the pretext of providing a job, they said.

India: No vaccine jab, no salary, says Thane civic body

Thane, Nov 9 (PTI) The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) in Maharashtra has said its employees who have not taken even one dose of vaccine against COVID-19 will not be paid salaries.

The decision was taken on Monday during a meeting of senior TMC officials, including civic commissioner Dr Vipin Sharma and Thane Mayor Naresh Mhaske.

According to an official release issued late Monday night, the civic employees who have not taken the first dose, will not be paid salaries.

India: Court frames charges against UP minister

Muzaffarnagar, Nov 9 (PTI) A court here framed charges against Uttar Pradesh minister Kapil Dev Aggarwal in two cases, involving charges of the violation of prohibitory orders and rioting.

The court meant to try MPs and MLAs fixed November 23 as the next date of hearing.

The court of Special Judge Gopal Upadhyay farmed charges under Sections 147, 188, 427 and 506 of the IPC.
