India: Poor income curtails plying of buses in Kanpur region

Kanpur: Well, to be candid, as many as 118 roadways buses have been surrendered owing to low load factor and lesser revenue collection in Kanpur region.

According to the assistant regional manager, Rajesh Singh the passengers are not daring to make the journey through the buses because of corona pandemic.

With no sharp decline in the Coronavirus patients, the fear psychosis pervades deeply among the common people. That's why the increase in revenue does not look practical in a few days.

India: UP farmer diescommits suicide due to financial problems

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Aug 29 (PTI) A 55-year-old farmer died on Saturday allegedly after consuming poison due to financial problems in a village here, police said.

The body of Ilmuddin (55) was found in a sugarcane field in Purbaliyan village under Mansurpur police station limits in the district, they said. An empty bottle of sulphus poison was lying near the body.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem and an investigation is on.

India: ANPR cameras active again on city's four crossings

Kanpur: So what is a fresh arrangement on habitual violators of the city's traffic regulations, you may ask? The automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras are again made functional on at least four crossings under the integrated traffic system.

The crossings are Fazalganj, Parade, Naubasta and Goshala JK(I) respectively. It is on a trial basis as has been reported. A traffic violation can surely be observed.

These advanced cameras will catch the traffic violators quickly. Owing to defects in the traffic lights, these cameras had stopped functioning.

India: UP minister Satish Mahana tests COVID positive

Lucknow, Aug 29 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Satish Mahana said on Saturday that he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus and isolated himself at home.

Mahana requested those who have come in contact with him in the past few days to get their coronavirus tests done.

"After initial symptoms of COVID, I got myself tested yesterday (Friday) and the report came positive," the infrastructure and industrial development minister tweeted. "I have isolated myself at home on the advice of doctors.

India: UP Cong leader demands expulsion of Ghulam Nabi Azad from party

Lucknow, Aug 28 (PTI) A Congress leader in Uttar Pradesh on Friday said the party should expel Ghulam Nabi Azad who is among 23 signatories to a letter which called for an overhaul of the organisation.

Twenty-three Congress leaders wrote to party chief Sonia Gandhi, seeking an active and full-time party leadership among other organisational changes.

India: 4 booked for abducting and trying to sell girl in UP

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Aug 29 (PTI) A girl was allegedly abducted in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district by four people who wanted to sell her for marriage, an official said on Saturday.

The teenager, who is around 18 years old, was abducted from her house at a village under Sikheda police station area on August 18 by a man and three women after intoxicating her. She was kept at a house in Panipat, Haryana, the childcare helpline official said.

India: City's pit roads reflect dreary picture in broader space

Kanpur: Dilapidated roads reflect off the dreary clout in the accessible broader space. Roads above seven meters in width are being transferred to PWD by the KMC.

India: Man held for rape attempt on 7-year-old girl in UP

Noida (UP), Aug 28 (PTI) A 42-year-old man has been arrested for alleged rape attempt on a seven-year-old girl from his neighbourhood at a village in Uttar Pradesh's Noida, police said on Friday.

The incident had taken place on Wednesday evening and an FIR was lodged in connection with the case at Sector 39 police station Thursday night, they said.

"The accused and the victim are neighbours. An FIR was lodged after the family's complaint was received and the accused arrested immediately," a police spokesperson said.

India: Why does road cutting carry if better roads damage?

Kanpur: There is no end to road cutting in the city or outer areas. This is surely because of the needs arising to dig up roads for different purposes from time to time.

What is done after digging the road is that it is somehow made passable motorable so that the traffic must go on.

Civic bodies like Jal Nigam, PWD and Nagar Nigam make an accusation to one another for ruining the roads in a good position.
