Saudi Arabia: OPEC+ decides to move to 2nd phase of oil cuts by easing output restrictions

RIYADH, July 15 (Xinhua) -- The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and non-OPEC countries decided in a meeting on Wednesday to move to the second phase of their agreement to cut oil output by easing restrictions on production.

Entering the second phase, the cuts will be reduced from 9.6 million barrels per day (bpd) to 7.7 million bpd starting August until the end of the year, according to an OPEC statement released after the online meeting.

Saudi Arabia’s Flagship Red Sea Project Awards Biggest Contract For Airport Infrastructure

RIYADH, July 14 (NNN-SPA) – The Red Sea Project, Saudi Arabia’s flagship international tourism project, awarded the contract for construction of the airport infrastructure to a joint venture between Saudi contractors Nesma & Partners Contracting Co. Ltd and Almabani General Contractors.

This is the biggest contract in terms of value that has been awarded by the flagship project to date, said the Red Sea Development Company, the developer behind the high-profile tourism project, in a statement.

Saudi-led coalition says intercepts 4 missiles, 7 drones from Yemen's Houthi rebels

RIYADH, July 13 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led Arab coalition involved in a war in Yemen said it intercepted on Monday four missiles and seven drones launched by the Houthi rebels toward the kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Turki Al Maliki, spokesman of the coalition, said in a statement that the the dawn attacks by Houthis targeted civilians and civilian areas.

At least 50 million jobs lost in Arab countries due to pandemic

13 July 2020; MEMO: The Covid-19 pandemic has led to serious losses in the tourism industry in the Arab world, with more than 50 million jobs lost, Anadolu reported on Sunday.

A report from the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) said that the country most affected by the coronavirus is Saudi Arabia, followed by the UAE, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Palestine.

Saudi Arabia denies reports it froze expats’ bank accounts

08 July 2020; MEMO: Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) yesterday denied reports that banks intended to freeze the accounts of expatriate workers whose financial transactions exceed their wages.

“There is no truth in the reports that have been circulated across some media networks that the kingdom’s banks were directed to freeze accounts of expatriate workers whose transactions had exceeded the prevalent wages of their jobs,” SAMA said on Twitter.

Saudi Arabia: $933m set aside to cover salaries of private sector staff during COVID-19

06 July 2020; MEMO: Saudi Arabia has set aside 3.5 billion riyals ($933 million) to support 480,000 of its citizens working in the private sector and who are struggling as a result of uncertainty stemming from the coronavirus.

The Governor of the General Organisation for Social Insurance (GOSI), Sulaiman Al-Gwaiz, said in a statement yesterday that the initiative to support workers in the private sector comes within government initiatives to mitigate the financial and economic burdens caused by the pandemic.
