MULTAN, Pakistan (AP) — A Pakistani man sentenced to life in prison in 2019 for strangling his sister, a model on social media, was acquitted of murder Monday after his parents pardoned him under Islamic law, an attorney for the man’s family said.

Waseem Azeem was arrested in 2016 after he confessed to killing Qandeel Baloch, 26, for posting what he called “shameful” pictures on Facebook. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison but his parents had sought his release, said Sardar Mahboob, a lawyer who represents Azeem and his family.

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (APP): SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sunday said Pakistan and Iran have shown unforgettable generosity in hosting millions of Afghans reminding the rest of the world to come forward and help Afghanistan.

MULTAN, Pakistan (AP) — An enraged mob stoned to death a middle-aged man for allegedly desecrating the Quran in a remote village in eastern Pakistan, police said Sunday.

The custodian of a local mosque said he saw the man burning the Muslim holy book inside the mosque Saturday evening and told others before informing police, according to police spokesman Chaudhry Imran. The violence took place in a village in the district of Khanewal in Punjab province.

Islamabad, Feb 10 (PTI) Pakistan has summoned India's Charge d'Affaires here to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and conveyed the government's grave concern on the ban on Muslim girl students from wearing hijab in Karnataka.

The Foreign Office said in a statement late on Wednesday that the Indian diplomat was conveyed Pakistan's deep concern over alleged religious intolerance, negative stereotyping, stigmatisation and discrimination against Muslims in India.

09 Feb 2022; MEMO: A Joint Mechanised Training exercise between the Pakistan Army and Royal Saudi Land Forces began Tuesday in north-east Pakistan, according to the Pakistani military, Anadolu News Agency reports.

The opening ceremony of the two-month training, which aims to "enhance and strengthen" the existing military cooperation between the two forces was held in Multan, it said in a statement.

ISLAMABAD, Feb 7 (APP): Advisor to Prime Minister on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Khalid Mansoor said here Monday that the phase-2 of the corridor involved multi-billion dollar investments in Pakistan as most of Chinese companies had shown their interest to investment in country.

Addressing a press conference, he said that during his two-day historic visit to China, Prime Minister Imran Khan held around 20 back-to-back meetings with representatives of around 500 companies to help bring investment into the country.

ISLAMABAD, Feb 3 (NNN-APP) – Four terrorists and one soldier were killed, when Pakistani security forces repulsed attacks on two camps of paramilitary troops Frontier Corps (FC), in two districts of the country’s south-western Balochistan province last night, an army statement said.

The attacks happened in Panjgur district, located near the Pakistan-Iran border, and in Noshki district, located south-west of the provincial capital of Quetta.

QUETTA, Pakistan, Feb 4 (Reuters) - At least three militants were killed by Pakistani security forces and six were injured in a grenade attack in two attacks on Friday following a search for insurgents who had attacked two military bases, killing seven soldiers and 13 of their own, in the latest violence in southwest Pakistan.
