ANKARA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Turkey was not satisfied with a new proposal submitted by the United States on the issue of establishing a safe zone in northern Syria, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Wednesday.

"New U.S. proposals are not satisfactory for us. We got the impression that they want to stall just like what happened with Manbij (deal)," Cavusoglu told reporters at a press conference, after talks between the American and Turkish delegations in capital Ankara.

ANKARA, July 24 (NNN-Bernama) — International relations, defence, trade and investment are among issues which Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will discuss with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his visit to Turkey starting Wednesday.

Malaysian Ambassador to Turkey, Datuk Abd Razak Abdul Wahab, said the one-on-one meeting between Dr Mahathir and Erdogan will be followed by a meeting of delegates from both countries, which would take place at the Presidential Palace here on the second day of the Prime Minister’s four-day visit.

24 July 2019; AA: Turkey slammed Israel on Tuesday for demolishing Palestinian houses in East Jerusalem, calling the action part of “aggressive” policies to forcefully change the holy city’s demographic makeup.

In a written statement, Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said the demolition was yet another example of Israel’s “aggressive occupation” policies.

ANKARA, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Turkey will launch a new operation in northern Syria if a safe zone is not created, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Monday.

In an interview with private broadcaster TGRT News, Cavusoglu said he hoped an agreement would be reached after meeting with the U.S. special envoy for Syria James Jeffrey, who is visiting Ankara.

Talks between Turkey and the United States on the safe zone in northeastern Syria had recently slowed, the Turkish top diplomat said.

ANKARA, July 22. /TASS/: Turkey is ready to take counter-measures, if the United States imposes sanctions over the delivery of Russian-made S-400 air defense missile systems, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in a live broadcast of the TGRT television channel on Monday.

"If the United States takes measures against us, we will respond with counter-measures. Of course, we would like our relations to continue as two NATO partners. But if they display a hostile attitude towards us, we will take counter-measures," the Turkish foreign minister said.

ANKARA, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Presidential Spokesman Ibrahim Kalin held a conversation with U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton by phone on Thursday, discussing Turkey's exclusion from the F-35 fighter jet program.

During the call with Bolton, Kalin expressed Turkey's unease over Washington's decision, said a statement by Turkey's presidential office.

On Wednesday, the White House announced that it was removing Turkey out of the F-35 fighter jet program over Ankara's purchase of the Russian S-400 air defense systems.

ANKARA, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Turkey launched an air attack Thursday on northern Iraq's semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan in response to the killing of a Turkish diplomat in the region, according to a statement of the country's defense minister.

"Following the evil attack in Erbil, we have launched the most comprehensive air operation on Qandil and dealt a heavy blow to the (PKK) terror organisation," Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said in the statement.

18 July 2019; AA: Turkey continued on Thursday to receive components of Russian S-400 missile defense systems. 

Delivery of the long-range air defense hardware continued, with 15 shipments having so far landed at the Murted Air Base in the capital Ankara over the past week.

The first shipment was delivered last Friday.

Following protracted efforts to purchase an air defense system from the U.S. with no success, Ankara signed a contract in 2017 to purchase the S-400s from Russia.
