Ahmedabad, Jul 28 (PTI) A 38-year-old man who organised a Shaheen Baug-type anti-CAA protest in Ahmedabad has been issued a show cause notice asking why he should not be externed for a period of two years.
Kaleem Siddiqui has been asked to appear before the A Division assistant commissioner of police on July 30 to put forth his defence.
In the notice, police cited 10 incidents in which Siddiqui allegedly indulged in violence or criminal intimidation against innocent people.
28 July 2020; MEMO: Journalist Adel Sabry has been released from jail after more than two years in pre-trial detention.
Sabry, who is editor-in-chief of Masr Al-Arabia and a journalist and member of the Egyptian Press Syndicate, returned home after Egypt’s state security prosecution ordered his release.
Adel Sabry was arrested in April 2018 for allegedly operating a news website without a licence and joining the now outlawed Muslim Brotherhood.

27 July 2020; MEMO: A mosque in the city of Al-Bireh near Ramallah was set on fire and vandalised with graffiti in Hebrew in a suspected hate crime by Israeli settlers last night, reported Wafa news agency.
A Palestinian emergency services official said a bathroom area of Al-Bir and Al-Thsan mosque was burned after flammable liquid was poured through a smashed window before dawn.
27 July 2020; MEMO: Israel’s Public Security Minister, Amir Ohana, warned on Sunday that violent clashes at demonstrations spreading across the country are likely to end in bloodshed, local media have reported.
“There is a feeling and high probability that it will end in bloodshed,” Ohana told public broadcaster Kan. “I am really worried by the hate in the air.”
New Delhi, Jul 27 (PTI) A 40-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly abducting and raping a minor girl in North Delhi's Sadar Bazaar area, police said on Monday.
The accused, Sudama, resided in Nabi Karim area and worked as a cart puller in Sadar Bazaar, they said.
The incident took place on Friday night.
26 July 2020; MEMO: The Turkish Coast Guard rescued more than 900 asylum seekers in the recent month who were pushed back by the Greek Coast Guard into Turkish territorial waters in the Aegean, reports Anadolu Agency.
Asylum seekers were seeking to cross to Europe with rubber boats to start new lives, especially those fleeing war and persecution.
