Indian PM Modi is 'jhooth ke jagatguru' (world leader of lies): Jairam Ramesh

Kota (Rj), Nov 16 (PTI) Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of spreading "lies" against the Congress, party general secretary Jairam Ramesh on Thursday called him 'jhooth ke jagatguru", days after the prime minister mocked Rahul Gandhi as the "leader of fools" during campaigning for assembly polls.

Addressing a press conference here, Ramesh took potshots at the BJP and Modi and claimed the Congress will retain power in Rajasthan because of its development and welfare schemes.

Qatar slams Israel’s bombing of its reconstruction HQ in Gaza

14 November 2023; MEMO: The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the Israeli army’s bombing of the headquarters of the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza.

In a statement issued yesterday, the ministry described the attack as “a clear violation of international law and an extension of Israel’s approach to targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, which also included hospitals, schools, population centres and shelters for displaced persons.”

London, Nov 16 (PTI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that India is not ruling out an investigation into Canada's allegations about the involvement of the Indian government's agents in the killing of a Canadian citizen Khalistani separatist in that country but wants it to provide evidence to back its claims.

Jaishankar made the comments on Wednesday in response to questions during a conversation with veteran journalist Lionel Barber titled ‘How a Billion People See the World' here.

14 November 2023; MEMO: An Iraqi television channel yesterday broadcast a video of Israeli-Russian doctoral student Elizabeth Tsurkov, the first ever since her kidnapping nine months ago in Baghdad, in an incident that the Israeli authorities blamed on pro-Iran Shia militias.

Tsurkov is likely to have entered Iraq on a Russian passport before being kidnapped in the capital at the end of March.

US public support for Israel drops; majority backs a ceasefire, Reuters/Ipsos shows

WASHINGTON, Nov 15 (Reuters) - U.S. public support for Israel's war against Hamas militants in Gaza is eroding and most Americans think Israel should call a ceasefire to a conflict that has ballooned into a humanitarian crisis, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

Some 32% of respondents in the two-day opinion poll, which closed on Tuesday, said "the U.S. should support Israel" when asked what role the United States should take in the fighting. That was down from 41% who said the U.S. should back Israel in a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted Oct. 12-13.
