Italy allows 2 more migrants to leave German rescue ship

28 June 2019; DW: Italian authorities have given permission for a sick man and his brother to disembark from Sea-Watch 3. The boat is still carrying some 40 migrants and has been sitting in international waters for more than two weeks.

Italy on Friday allowed two more migrants to disembark from a German Sea-Watch rescue boat carrying another 40 migrants off Lampedusa island, the NGO said.

OSCE mission in Ukraine confirms start of disengagement near Stanitsa Luganskaya

VIENNA, June 28. /TASS/: The Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Ukraine of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) confirmed the start of the disengagement process near Stanitsa Luganskaya and the start of mine clearing effort.

The mission’s observers reported the start of the disengagement on June 26 and said its monitors would continue to follow the developments.

UAE: ‘No evidence’ to blame any country for oil tanker attack

27 June 2019; MEMO: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister, Abdullah Bin Zayed, yesterday said that his country could not hold any country responsible for the recent attacks on four oil tankers because of “insufficient information”.

Bin Zayed said during a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, in Russian capital Moscow that, in order to hold any country responsible, the evidence must be “clear, precise, scientific and convincing for the international community”.

German firms slam costly US sanctions against Russia

27 June 2019; DW: "Counterproductive" US sanctions against Russia have cost German companies billions of euros in lost business opportunities, the German-Russian Chamber of Commerce (AHK) said Wednesday.

More than 140 firms that participated in a recent survey reported more than €1.1 billion ($1.25 billion) in losses since the sanctions came into effect five years ago, the group said.

Mediterranean rescue ship brings migrants to Italy, defying Salvini

27 June 2019; DW: Sea-Watch 3 Captain Carola Rackete said Wednesday that the rescue ship would head to Lampedusa with its rescued passengers.

"I've decided to enter the port of Lampedusa," Sea-Watch tweeted the ship's German captain as saying. "I know this is risky, but the 42 shipwrecked on board are exhausted. I will bring them to safety."

Nirav Modi to appear via videolink from prison for UK hearing

London, Jun 27 (PTI) Fugitve diamantaire Nirav Modi is set to appear via videolink from prison for a routine remand hearing before Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Thursday.

The 48-year-old, who has been lodged at Wandsworth prison in south-west London since his arrest in March in connection with the nearly USD 2 billion Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud and money laundering case, will be appearing for the first time since his bail appeal was rejected by the UK High Court earlier this month, his fourth attempt at bail.
