ISLAMABAD, June 1 (Xinhua) -- In the wake of an HIV outbreak with more than 700 cases of HIV positive patients in Pakistan's southern Sindh province, an international team of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) has begun investigation into the sudden spread of the disease, local reports said on Saturday.

ISLAMABAD, May 30 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday paid respect at Roza-e-Rasool (Peace Be Upon Him) and offered Navafil and Namaz-e-Asar in Masjid-e-Nabvi.

The Prime Minister also offered Navafil at Riyadh-ul-Jannah.

On reaching, the doors of Roza-e-Rasool (Peace Be Upon Him) were especially opened for the Prime Minister. Later, the prime minister left for Jeddah, a press statement of the PM Office said.

ISLAMABAD, May 30 (APP): President Dr Arif Alvi Thursday said that construing Islam as merely a religion of rituals while ignoring the social responsibilities was a mistaken concept.

Addressing an Iftar dinner held at the President House by a civil society organization Khubaib Foundation, the president said the concept of Madina State was a broader one which realize the people about their responsibilities.

ISLAMABAD, May 29 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Wednesday categorically said Pakistan would stand with Saudi Arabia in case of any threat to the latter’s sovereignty.

“Pakistan’s sovereignty is linked with the peace and stability of Saudi Arabia. It will stand with Saudi Arabia in all odds,” he said in his meeting with Saudi Acting Foreign Minister Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Assaf, on the sidelines of Meeting of Foreign Ministers’ Council of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), being held in Jeddah.

ISLAMABAD, May 28 (APP): Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Tuesday announced 50 percent discount on all trains on Eid day to facilitate the passengers across the country.

“This a special gift for passengers on Eid day and I also thank the travelers who will use Pakistan Railways for travelling,” the minister said in a statement issued here.

Karachi, May 28 (PTI) Pakistan has tried to downplay India's decision not to invite Imran Khan for Narendra Modi's swearing-in on Thursday, saying the Indian Prime Minister's "internal politics" does not permit him to extend an invitation to his Pakistani counterpart.

The government on Monday announced in New Delhi that it has invited leaders from BIMSTEC countries to Prime Minister Modi's inauguration, leaving out Pakistan, which is not a member of the regional grouping.

ISLAMABAD, May 28 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan will attend the 14th Summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Saudi Arabia’s city Makkah on May 31, Foreign Minister
Shah Mehmood Qureshi confirmed on Tuesday.

“The OIC session is very important to discuss the Middle East conflict and also the proposed Peace Plan to diffuse the situation,” Qureshi told reporters here prior to his departure for Jeddah to participate in the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting, preceding the summit-level meeting.

ISLAMABAD, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Three armed insurgents were killed and 10 others injured in a clash with Pakistani army in the country's northwest tribal town of North Waziristan on Sunday, an army statement said.

A group lead by a local insurgent group assaulted an army check post, attempting to exert pressure for release of a suspected terrorists' facilitator arrested the other day, the Inter-Services Public Relations, the military's media wing said in the statement.

Surprisingly the anti-Modi sting in the media was missing as for many outlets it was not an unexpected outcome of the elections.
