26 Nov 2020; MEMO: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said yesterday that his country expects the administration of President-elect Joe Biden to "explicitly" condemn its predecessor's "anti-human rights and terroristic" policies against Iran and make up for the defective politics that the previous government had carried out for four years, Russia Today reported.

Tehran, Nov 26 (AP-PTI) Iran has freed a British-Australian academic who had been detained in the country for over two years in exchange for three Iranians held abroad, state TV announced.

The television report on Wednesday was scant on detail, saying only that the three Iranians freed in the swap had been imprisoned for trying to bypass sanctions on Iran.

TEHRAN, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned on Wednesday the deadly explosions that occured on Tuesday in the Afghan city of Bamiyan as "terrorist attacks."

"Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh condemned yesterday's terrorist attacks in Bamyan that killed and injured dozens of civilians, including innocent women and children," the ministry said in a statement published on its official website.

The note also expressed condolences to the government and people of Afghanistan.

25 Nov 2020; MEMO: Iran's supreme leader dismissed the prospect of new negotiations with the West on Tuesday, even as the Tehran government spoke optimistically about the return of foreign companies in "the absence of Trump" and his sanctions.

President-elect Joe Biden's victory has raised the possibility that the United States could rejoin a deal Iran reached with world powers in 2015, under which sanctions were lifted in return for curbs on Iran's nuclear programme.

Tehran, Nov 22, IRNA – Iran’s exports to the European Union have grown by 13 percent over the first nine months of 2020 compared to the previous year's corresponding period, according to a report by Tehran Chamber of Commerce.

Iran exported some €563 million of commodities to the European Union in the nine-month period, the report said.

The report, however, said that Iran's imports from the European Union stood at €2.78 billion which showed a 15 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.  

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran on Saturday shuttered businesses and curtailed travel between its major cities, including the capital of Tehran, as it grapples with the worst outbreak of the coronavirus in the Mideast region.

Top Iranian officials initially downplayed the risks posed by the virus outbreak, before recently urging the public to follow measures like wearing masks and avoiding unessential travel.

Tehran, Nov 21, IRNA - Iranian Interior Minister announced here on Saturday that the June 2021 presidential election will be held in coordination with the Health and Medical Education Ministry across Iran.

Speaking about preparations for the next presidential election in Iran, Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli said that due coordination will be made with health ministry.

Meanwhile, Iran will use experiences of other countries which have already held elections in the pandemic situation, Rahmani-Fazli added.

21 Nov 2020; MEMO: Iran's deputy health minister resigned Friday amid a spike in the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country, according to Iranian media, Anadolu Agency reported.

Reza Malekzadeh accused Health Minister Saeed Namaki of mismanaging the pandemic and causing many casualties, the semi-official ISNA news agency reported.

Iran confirmed 479 more coronavirus-related fatalities on Friday, raising the nationwide death toll to 43,896, according to the country's Health Ministry.

20 Nov 2020; MEMO: Iran has rejected a United Nations (UN) resolution that condemns human rights abuses in the country, Al Jazeera reported.

The resolution, which was put forward by Canada, was adopted by the third committee of the UN General Assembly last week by a vote of 79 to 32, with 64 abstentions.
