India: Around 150 Army personnel test positive for COVID-19

New Delhi, Dec 26 (PTI) Around 150 Army personnel who arrived in the national capital from various locations in the last few weeks to participate in the Republic Day and Army Day parades have tested positive for COVID-19, official sources said.

The infection was detected during a mandatory testing for COVID-19 under a strict protocol formulated to insulate all the personnel taking part in the two parades from the COVID-19 infection, they said.

India: 2 girls abducted in UP's Shahjahanpur rescued

Shahjahanpur (UP), Dec 26 (PTI) Two girls who were allegedly abducted in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur district have been recovered and one of the suspects was arrested on Saturday, police said.

The girls, aged 14 and 11, went missing from Roja area on Friday afternoon and their families informed the police in the evening, Superintendent of Police (City) Sanjay Kumar said.

India: 3 Naxal terrorists arrested in Jharkhand

Hazaribag (Jharkhand), Dec 26 (PTI) Three Naxals belonging to the banned Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) outfit were arrested in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district on Saturday, police said.

The arrested Naxals include the outfit's self-styled 'sub-zonal commander' Durga Bedia and 'area commander' Rakesh Ganju alias Abhishek Ji, they said.

India's FM Jaishankar on two-day visit to Qatar

New Delhi, Dec 26 (PTI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will undertake a two-day visit to Qatar beginning Sunday during which he will hold talks with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and other important dignitaries.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) made an announcement about Jaishankar's visit to the Gulf nation.

Nepalese woman gang-raped in India's Haryana state

Yamunanagar (Har), Dec 26 (PTI) A Nepalese woman was allegedly raped by five men in front of her husband in a village here, police said on Saturday.

According to police, the accused entered the victim's rented house Thursday night. They beat up the woman's husband, a farm labourer, and tied him with ropes. The accused then took turns to rape her.

India: Another accused held in Haridwar rape-murder case

Haridwar (Uttarakhand), Dec 27 (PTI) A second accused in the rape and murder case of an 11-year-old girl here a week ago was arrested on Sunday from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, police said.

Rajeev, who had been on the run since Monday last, was arrested on the basis of clues provided by his younger brother who was taken into custody by the police for interrogation on Saturday.

India: Honour killing in Kerala

Palakkad (Ker), Dec 26 (PTI): Two people, including the father-in-law of a 27-year old man, who was hacked to death in Palakkad district on Friday, have been taken into custody in connection with the incident, which is suspected to be a case of honour killing.

Aneesh, a painter, had married Haritha (21) some three months ago.

Due to the differences in their caste and financial status, the woman's father, Prabhukumar and uncle Suresh Kumar, used to threaten them often, Aneesh's relatives told media personnel.
