India: E-rickshaw driver hacked to death in UP's Murad Nagar

Ghaziabad, Feb 19 (PTI) An e-rickshaw driver was hacked to death by a sword-wielding unidentified man in Murad Nagar town of the district, police said.

The e-rickshaw driver, identified as Aas Mohammad, a resident of Jalalabad village near Murad Nagar, was intercepted by a man wearing black clothes on Nullah Road in his village and was attacked repeatedly with a sword, Ghaziabad Superintendent of Police (Rural) Iraj Raja said.

India: Gehlot attacks Modi govt over rising fuel prices

Jaipur, Feb 20 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said fuel prices have been increasing for 11 days and the common man is suffering as a result of "wrong" economic policies of the Centre.

In a series of tweets, Gehlot targeted the Centre and cleared his stand on the rumours that Rajasthan levies highest tax on fuel prices.

India: Farmers group AIKS to hold mahapanchyats in Rajasthan next week

Jaipur, Feb 20 (PTI) The All India Kisan Sabha will hold several kisan mahapanchayats in Rajasthan next week under the leadership of farmer leaders, including Rakesh Tikait.

The kisan mahapanchayats will be held in the state from February 22 to 26 and the first one will take place in Nohar in Hanumangarh district on February 22, the Kisan Sabha spokesperson said.

India: Farmer, son die by suicide over debt, farm laws

Hoshiarpur (Punjab), Feb 20 (PTI) A debt-ridden farmer and his son allegedly died by suicide in Punjab's Hoshiarpur village, saying in a note that they were upset over the Centre's new farm laws and the state government's failure to waive their loans.

The farmer, Jagtar Singh (70), and his son Kirpal Singh (42) were found dead at their residence in Muhadipur village on Saturday morning, Deputy Superintendent of Police Munish Kumar said.

India: Offline classes help grasp lessons more easily

Kanpur: The junior students have started attending classes in the school. The schools are giving both the options viz offline and online classes respectively. 

What was your experience on the first day of classes in school? Quickly responding one student told it was quite good. Offline classes provide a clear understanding of the lessons.

Just on the entry of the school gate, sanitiser is sprinkled and later fever is checked. Thereafter, the teachers note down the temperature in the register. After all these formalities a student enters the classroom.

India, China complete disengagement in Pangong lake area

New Delhi, Feb 19 (PTI) After completing the withdrawal of troops and weapons from the north and south banks of Pangong lake, India and China will hold a fresh round of high-level military talks on Saturday to take forward the disengagement process in Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang in eastern Ladakh, official sources said on Friday.

India: Climate activist Disha Ravi case: have not leaked anything to media, police tells Delhi HC

New Delhi, Feb 18 (PTI) Delhi Police Thursday told the Delhi High Court that it has not leaked any material to the media in relation to its probe in the FIR against climate activist Disha Ravi for her alleged involvement in sharing a toolkit backing the ongoing farmers' protest.

The court was hearing Ravi's plea to restrain police from leaking to the media any probe material in relation to the FIR lodged against her.

The submission was made before Justice Prathiba M Singh by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the police.
