India: Responsibility of 'all of us' to give alternative: NCP

Mumbai, Nov 11 (PTI) With the deadlock over government formation continuing in Maharashtra, NCP leader Nawab Malik on Monday said it is the responsibility of "all of us" to give an alternative considering the plight of people in the state.

Malik, however, said the NCP will take any decision in consensus with its ally Congress in the evening.

He also said that communication was going on between the Shiv Sena and NCP.

India: Uddhav meets Pawar in Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 11 (PTI) Amid the stalemate over government formation in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray met NCP president Sharad Pawar here on Monday, sources said.

The Sena chief was accompanied by his son Aaditya Thackeray as he called on Pawar at an undisclosed location, they said.

The Congress and NCP are at present holding parleys at their respective party levels on whether to support a Shiv Sena-led government in the state.

The two parties have already declared that whatever the decision, they will take it together.

India: WhatsApp snooping row: Baghel orders probe into illegal surveillance, Israeli company NSO for spyware

Raipur, Nov 11 (PTI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has ordered a probe by a three-member committee into the illegal surveillance of some individuals in the state through WhatsApp using an Israeli-made spyware, officials said on Monday.

Baghel has also asked the committee to investigate complaints that the Israeli company NSO, which developed spyware Pegasus used to snoop on people, made a presentation of the software before state police officials two-three years back, they said.

India: Man beaten to death by Naxal terrorists in Chhattisgarh

Sukma, Nov 11 (PTI) A man was beaten to death by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district after they accused him of being a police informer, an official said on Monday.

The body of Sudam Hunga, a native of Kamapura village, was found on Monday morning on the outskirts of Jagargunda village and a leaflet left on the spot by Naxals claimed he was killed for being a police informer, the official said.

"He was abducted some days ago and it seems he was beaten to death. We have launched a combing operation to nab the culprits," he added.

India: Cong leaders meet to decide on supporting Shiv Sena

New Delhi, Nov 11 (PTI) As its flock of 44 Maharashtra MLAs huddled together in a Jaipur resort, the Congress Working Committee met here on Monday to take a decision on whether or not to support the Shiv Sena in forming a government in the state.

Party president Sonia Gandhi chaired the meeting of the top leaders of her party at her residence, sources said, amid indications that the legislators were not in favour of fresh elections in the state.

Delhi has won battle against dengue: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Nov 10 (PTI) Less than 1100 cases of dengue and no deaths due to the mosquito-borne disease have been reported so far this year in the city, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday.

In a video message posted on Twitter, he said this was an achievement in comparison to 2015 when over 15,000 dengue cases had been recorded and 60 people had died in the national capital.

Kejriwal lauded residents' efforts in following the '10-hafte, 10-baje, 10-minute' campaign launched by him on September 1.

India: Asaduddin Owaisi expressed his dissatisfaction over SC judgement on Ayodhya

New Delhi; 9 Nov 2019; GANASHAKTI: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday expressed his dissatisfaction over the Supreme Court judgement on Ayodhya land dispute case calling the court ruling discriminatory against Muslisms. He added that the Supreme Court verdict is final but not infalliable. "The Supreme Court is supreme but not infallible. I am not satisfied with the order," he said while addressing a press conference today. 

India: Cyclone 'Bulbul' disrupts normal life in Bengal; 4 killed

Kolkata, Nov 10; GANASHAKTI: Cyclone 'Bulbul', which made landfall between Bengal and Bangladesh coasts, brought in its wake heavy rain coupled with strong winds till early Sunday, affecting normal life in several parts of the city and the coastal districts of the state.

At least four people were killed in rain-related incidents in Kolkata and North 24 Parganas since Saturday, according to official reports.

An employee of a renowned club in the city was killed when a branch of a cedar tree fell on him, police said. 

India: Zafaryab Jilani uhappy with SC verdict, says verdict has contradictions, will seek review

New Delhi, Nov 9 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board's Zafaryab Jilani on Saturday expressed dissatisfaction over the Supreme Court's Ayodhya verdict, saying it has a lot of contradictions and they will seek a review of it.

The apex court on Saturday cleared the way for the construction of a Ram Temple at the disputed site at Ayodhya, and directed the Centre to allot a 5-acre plot to the Sunni Waqf Board for building a mosque.
