Pakistan reiterates call for US to unfreeze Afghanistan's assets

13 Nov 2021; MEMO: Pakistan's Prime Minister on Friday reiterated the need for the US to release Afghanistan's frozen assets to "prevent an economic meltdown" in the country.

In a meeting with the Taliban's acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, and a visiting Afghan delegation, Imran Khan "underscored the urgent need to release Afghanistan's frozen assets and facilitation of banking transactions to prevent an economic meltdown," according to a statement by the premier's office.

India on history’s wrong side; New Delhi Dialogue has negative takeaway: Indian analyst

ISLAMABAD, Nov 12 (APP): Calling New Delhi Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan having a negative takeaway, an Indian Strategic Affairs analyst said that in order to be viewed as a reliable stakeholder in Afghanistan, India should improve its ties with Pakistan and China.

Also an ex-Indian army officer, Pravin Sawhney, in an interview with Russia’s Sputnik News, said “the major takeaway from the Delhi Regional Security Dialogue is a negative one.”

Acting FM of Afghanistan arrives in Pakistan for 3-day visit

ISLAMABAD, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Afghan acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday for a three-day visit as head of a high-level delegation to hold wide-ranging talks with the Pakistani leadership.

Pakistan's Special Representative for Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq and Abdul Razak Dawood, advisor to Pakistani prime minister on commerce, textile, industry and production, and investment welcomed Muttaqi on his arrival, according to the state television of Pakistan.

Pakistan hosts US, Russia, China for talks on Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan on Thursday hosted talks with special envoys from the United States, Russia and China on the path forward for Afghanistan, where a deepening humanitarian crisis has forced many Afghans to migrate to neighboring countries since the Taliban takeover in August.

Afghanistan’s Taliban-appointed foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, was in Islamabad but did not attend the meeting. The international community has not recognized the government appointed by the Taliban after they overran the country.

ISLAMABAD, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Last month, the family of Mawlavi Ezzatullah, a member of Afghanistan's Hizb-e Islami party, received a WhatsApp message from his phone: "We have slaughtered your Mawlavi Ezzat, come and collect his body."

Ezzatullah's killing, in the eastern province of Nangarhar, was one of a steady stream of assassinations and bombings that have undermined Taliban claims that they have brought greater security to Afghanistan after 40 years of war.

India’s NSA Summit; an abortive attempt to undo “spoiler” image

ISLAMABAD, Nov 7 (APP): Having faced strategic losses in Afghanistan after US withdrawal, India plans to host the NSA-level summit in New Delhi next week, which the analysts believe, was nothing but an attempt to cover up its image of “spoiler” and try to enhance its relevance in the region.

Being well-cognizant of India’s true face and negative role in the region particularly in Afghanistan, a key regional stakeholder Pakistan had already declined India’s invitation to be part of the summit.

Pakistan removes Iran from COVID-19 travel restrictions list

Islamabad, IRNA -- Pakistan has lifted COVID-19 travel restrictions from the Islamic Republic of Iran while announcing new conditions for air travel to the country.

National Command Operation Center on Wednesday in a meeting decided to relax coronavirus-related restrictions after the enforcement of obligatory vaccination for inbound travelers.

Accordingly, six countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was previously on List C of the air travel ban to Pakistan, were removed from the list.

Egypt’s Grand Mufti meets Pakistan’s ambassador

ISLAMABAD, Nov 4 (APP): The Grand Mufti of Egypt Shawki Ibrahim Allam Thursday called on Ambassador of Pakistan in Cairo Sajid Bilal.

During the meeting, they discussed opportunities for close cooperation in the field of Fatwa and other matters of mutual interest.

Allam is the 19th Grand Mufti of Egypt. He is also a professor of Islamic jurisprudence and law at the Al-Azhar University, and has written more than 25 works, many of which address issues pertaining to women.
