Police: Pakistan detains scores in lynching of Sri Lankan

LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) — Police arrested 13 suspects and detained dozens of others in the lynching of a Sri Lankan employee at a sports equipment factory in eastern Pakistan, officials said Saturday.

A mob of hundreds of enraged Muslims descended on the factory in the district of Sialkot in Punjab province Friday after the Sri Lankan manager of the factory was accused of blasphemy.

Alvi meets Uzbek President: reaffirms Pakistan’s support for Trans-Afghan Railway project

ISLAMABAD, Nov 28 (APP): President Dr. Arif Alvi Sunday held a bilateral meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev wherein he reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for the Trans-Afghan Railway project and assured all possible cooperation for its early realization.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 15th ECO Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Ashgabat.

The talks covered the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation, with a special focus on trade and economic relations, and connectivity agenda.

Over 1,600 tons of relief items sent as Pakistan’s humanitarian aid to Afghanistan continues

ISLAMABAD, Nov 25 (APP): Pakistan has so far dispatched 13 consignments containing 1,669 tons of relief items for Afghan people as the process of extending humanitarian aid to the war-torn country continues.

Consisting of food, medicine and shelters, eight consignments were donated by the Government of Pakistan. Out of these five consignments were dispatched through Torkham border, two from Ghulam Khan border and one from Chaman border.

On ‘exceptional basis’, Pakistan allows transportation of wheat, life-saving drugs from India to Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Nov 24 (APP): Pakistan on Wednesday allowed transportation of 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat and medicine from India to Afghanistan, citing the “goodwill and exceptional humanitarian gesture”.

The transportation of wheat and life-saving medicine was allowed from India via the Wagah Border.

Pakistan Reports 313 New COVID-19 Cases, Four More Deaths

ISLAMABAD, Nov 21 (NNN-APP) – Pakistan recorded 313 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total tally to 1,281,872, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), said today.

A total of 28,659 people have died from COVID-19 in Pakistan, including four deaths newly reported, said the NCOC, the department leading Pakistan’s campaign against the pandemic.

Pakistan’s southern Sindh province has been the worst hit, with a total of 474,058 cases, followed by eastern Punjab province with 442,422 infections.

Pakistan: Punjab CM-led group offers payers at Kartarpur gurdwara

Mediating between Pakistan, TTP; no agreement reached yet: Muttaqi

ISLAMABAD, Nov 14 (APP): Acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has confirmed that they were mediating between Pakistan and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), though no agreement was reached yet.

Muttaqi, who was visiting here mainly to attend Troika Plus meeting, told BBC Urdu in an interview published Sunday that the Taliban government was mediating on the desire of both the parties in Pakistan.

He said the parties had not yet reached an agreement; the beginning was a good one with the announcement of a month-long ceasefire.
