Morocco, Israel to build 2 drone factories

17 Dec 2021; MEMO: Morocco and Israel are preparing to build two factories for unmanned aircraft in the North Africa state's Al-Aoula region, media reported yesterday.

Moroccan and Israeli official sources told Shephard Media that the construction of the two factories had come in accordance with a security cooperation agreement that was signed between the two countries on 24 November.

Moroccan Journalist Association condemns media normalisation with Israel

25 Nov 2021; MEMO: The head of the National Association of the Moroccan Press, Abdullah Al-Bakali, announced his rejection of the visit by a delegation of Moroccan journalists to Israel, considering that "paying the Zionist entity for the travel and accommodation expenses is an insult and humiliation."

Al-Baqali said, in a statement reported on Wednesday by Moroccan media, that "only concealing the visit and announcing it at the last moment reveals its nature."

Morocco suspends flights with France over rising covid rates

26 Nov 2021; MEMO: Moroccan authorities yesterday suspended all commercial flights with France to curb an increasing number of coronavirus cases.

The Moroccan Monitoring Committee of COVID-19 said in a statement that the decision was taken "to preserve Morocco's achievements in terms of management of the COVID-19 pandemic and to deal with the deterioration of the health situation in some European countries," adding that the suspension will start "on Friday until further notice."

Israel DM in Morocco to formalise cooperation deals

24 Nov 2021; MEMO: Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz arrived in Morocco last night to begin a two-day visit during which he is expected to "formalise" cooperation deals between the two countries.

Before boarding his flight at Ben Gurion Airport, Gantz said: "This is an important and historic visit."

Gantz is planned to meet with Moroccan Defence Minister Abdellatif Loudiyi and Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.

Morocco lawyers file lawsuit against Israel minister

17 Nov 2021; MEMO: Four Moroccan lawyers have filed a lawsuit against Israel's National Security Adviser and Chief of Staff for National Security, Meir Ben-Shabbat, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.

Ben-Shabbat is accused of committing a "war crime and a crime against humanity that claimed the lives of four Moroccan children" during the latest offensive on Gaza.

Morocco Tightens Border To Curb COVID-19 Pandemic

RABAT, Nov 14 (NNN-MAP) – Morocco announced yesterday, to strengthen the control measures for access to its territory, as part of efforts to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.

A mandatory health pass and negative PCR test will be required for international travellers, as well as, a double-check by thermal cameras, and antigen tests will be conducted upon arrival in Morocco, said an official statement, published by the Moroccan official news agency.

Israel: Unsure when Morocco will appoint an envoy

26 Oct 2021; MEMO: Israel supports direct negotiations between the parties involved in the Western Sahara conflict, the newly appointed Ambassador to Morocco, David Govrin, said.

He went on to deny knowledge of Morocco's use of drones against the Polisario Front in the Sahara.

Govrin refused to answer journalists' questions about Rabat's alleged purchase of Israeli made Pegasus spyware, saying: "I prefer not to answer this question."

Normalising ties with Israel a 'crime', says Morocco party

23 Oct 2021; MEMO: A Moroccan party has harshly criticised the normalisation of ties between Morocco and Israel, stressing that this will never bring stability or economic benefits, Arabi21.com reported on Friday.

"The normalisation of ties is a crime and betrayal of the Palestinian cause and the defenceless occupied people, many of them were killed or forced out of their homes, or had their homes and holy sites destroyed," Spokesperson for the Justice and Charity party Fathallah Arsalan asserted.
