India: Boney Kapoor, family receive Dubai Golden Visa

Mumbai, Sep 14 (PTI) Filmmaker Boney Kapoor on Tuesday said he and his family have received the prestigious 10-year Dubai Golden Visa.

The 65-years-old producer shared the news on his official Twitter account.

"Grateful to Dubai government for granting me and my family a 10 years golden visa. Dynamic and kind hearted leadership. Best Destination .. Dubai and UAE #Goldenvisa #Dubai #UAE (sic)," Kapoor, who has backed films like ,"Mr India", "Wanted" and the upcoming "Maidaan", said in a tweet.

India: Reliance Industries shares decline over 2 pc

New Delhi, Sep 13 (PTI) Shares of Reliance Industries Ltd on Monday slipped more than 2 per cent after Jio delayed the launch of its ultra-low-cost smartphone, possibly due to semiconductor shortages that the industry is facing.

The market heavyweight declined 2.25 per cent to Rs 2,370.85 on BSE.

At NSE, it went lower by 2.25 per cent to Rs 2,371.

Jio has delayed the launch of its ultra-low-cost smartphone it is developing with Google, to Diwali, possibly due to semiconductor shortages that the industry is facing.

India: Woman raped, brutally assaulted in Mumbai

Mumbai, Sep 10 (PTI) A 34-year-old woman was raped and brutally assaulted inside a stationary tempo in suburban Sakinaka and her condition was said to be serious, police said on Friday.

Mohan Chouhan (45), the accused, was arrested within a few hours of the incident, said an official.

The police control room received a call in the early hours of Friday that a man was thrashing a woman on Khairani Road, he said.

India: Man arrested for `sexually assaulting' six-year-old girl

Pune, Sep 9 (PTI) A six-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from the Pune railway station area and sexually assaulted by a rickshaw driver on early Thursday morning, police said.

Sagar Mandhare (39), the accused, was arrested within a few hours of the crime, they added.

"The girl was sleeping with her parents on a footpath when the accused took her away in his rickshaw around 1 am," said an official of the Bundgarden police station.

After her parents realized that she was missing, they filed a complaint, he said.

"Third wave is not coming, it is already here," she told reporters at a function.

India: Sensex, Nifty close at new lifetime highs

Mumbai, Sep 6 (PTI) Equity benchmark Sensex jumped over 160 points to close at its fresh lifetime peak on Monday, driven by gains in index majors Reliance Industries and Infosys amid strong global cues and unabated foreign capital inflows.

The 30-share index settled 166.96 points or 0.29 per cent higher at 58,296.91. It touched an intra-day record of 58,515.85.

Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty climbed 54.20 points or 0.31 per cent to its new closing record of 17,377.80. During the session, it touched an all-time peak of 17,429.55.

Mumbai, Sep 6 (PTI) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Monday said Hindus and Muslims share the same ancestry and every Indian citizen is a "Hindu".

Speaking at an event here organised by Pune-based Global Strategic Policy Foundation, he said "sane" Muslim leaders should stand firmly against fundamentalists and added the minority community does not have to fear anything in India as Hindus don't hold enmity towards anyone.
