Ethiopia, Eritrea leaders re-open common border

ADDIS ABABA, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki re-opened the two countries' common border on Tuesday, more than 20 years after it was shut with the outbreak of bloody war between the two nations.

In a joint ceremony, Ahmed and Afwerki opened the key Bure-Debay-Sima border crossing and are expected later Tuesday to witness the re-opening of Zalambessa border crossing, Yemane Gebremeskel, Eritrean Minister of Information said in a twitter post.

Turkey's 34,000 sheep donation adds joy to Ethiopia Eid

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia; 21 Aug 2018; AA: Turkiye Diyanet Foundation donated 34,000 sheep to Ethiopia as hundreds of thousands of Muslims converged at the national stadium and nearby Meskel Square in capital Addis Ababa to celebrate Eid al-Adha, the feast of sacrifice.

Turkiye Diyanet Foundation’s Africa representative Yuksel Sezgin said the Turkish humanitarian organization had distributed the sheep among the poor in different parts of Ethiopia.
